NONPROFIT SPOTLIGHT

Tupelo/Lee County
Hunger Coalition

On June 29, the Tupelo/Lee County Hunger Coalition gathered volunteers to pack 950 boxes of food for school children in Lee County who qualify for free or reduced lunch throughout the school year. Recognizing that these children would not have access to affordable, nutritious meals during the summer, the Coalition stepped in and provided this basic need. The June packing day was the third of four, with one more scheduled to pack the remaining 850 boxes. By the end of the summer, a total of 3,410 boxes will have been packed and distributed to food-insecure children.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
On Thursday, September 19, Volunteer NEMS is partnering with United Way of NEMS and Tupelo Young Professionals to host a nonprofit expo at BancorpSouth Arena. The public will be invited to learn from the 100 nonprofits represented what the agencies do, where donations go, and how volunteers make a difference. If your agency is already registered on the Mississippi Hub Network (see list at right), you will receive an invitation to participate with a link to register. If your agency is not yet on the Hub, register now. The Hub is a free service, and the nonprofit expo is free as well.
