We are pleased to announce that New York State Education Department (NYSED) Office of Student Support Services has selected Binghamton University (Central/Western Region), Fordham University (NYC Region), and Rockland 21C (Eastern Region) as Technical Assistance Centers (TAC) for the development and sustainability of community schools throughout New York State. The Community Schools TACs are part of NYSED’s initiative to support community schools—schools that emphasize family engagement, have strong community partnerships and provide additional supports for students and families designed to counter environmental factors that impede student achievement.
The Central/Western Region TAC will support school districts in judicial districts five, six, seven and eight; the Eastern Region TAC will support judicial districts three, four, nine, and ten; and the New York City Region TAC will support judicial districts one, two, eleven, twelve, and thirteen.
Each TAC will provide school personnel and community partners with quality resources, guidance, training and professional development. The Technical Assistance Centers will build upon the existing strengths of school districts to remove barriers to learning and support the whole child through technical assistance, professional development, and the creation of Communities of Practice that advance the community schools strategy. Each TAC will provide school personnel and community partners with quality resources, guidance, training and professional development.
Be sure check out our CS TAC website for upcoming regional professional development trainings, webinars on a range of topics, and a host of resources. Please also be sure to let us know how we can support your school district by completing an inquiry form.
Sincerely,
