Join us for Rhododendron Rhapsody

Garden Party 2021

The Gallery’s Second Annual Garden Party, this year presenting an endless explosion of colorful rhododendron as well as many seasonal perennials.

May 16th. 5-8 PM @ Winterset Garden

Jeff DeLisa, the resident bagpiper, will guide you in. Other live Arts include the WindSong Strings, Laurel Steinly, classical dancer, and plein air painters.

Fine wines will be served by Classic Elements.

A delicious dinner by Flair of Country is included for each guest. There will be a choice of three entrees: Garlic Lime Chicken with Whiskey Marinated Pork Tenderloin, Panko Breaded Tilapia Fillet, or House Marinated Grilled Portobello Mushrooms. Dinner may be enjoyed on site or packaged for convenient take away.

This is an outdoor event, to be held rain or shine from 5 to 8 PM on Sunday, May 16, 2021. We will be observing all applicable Covid safety protocols.

Also: please understand that Winterset garden is in a forested setting. Many of the rhododendron border an expansive meadow, where deer often stop to graze. It is very scenic, but because of the deer and the unknown possibility of ticks, we believe that our guests should avoid shorts and sandals, and instead wear comfortable shoes and socks with long pants or slacks. To quote the old proverb: “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” We will have insect repellent available at our welcoming table for anyone who might like a quick spray. Thank you for your understanding!

The garden is located at 166 Krings Street in Richland. You will receive detailed location directions with your reservation.

Sponsors for the event include Dale Oxygen, GAP, Milke Lawn and Garden and North American Hoganas.

The proceeds from Rhododendron Rhapsody benefit the Piazza - an intimate little nook off of the Gallery, integrated with Central Park and its circle of business neighbors.

Finally, after two years of planning, development and preparation, you will see a transformation into a Green Gathering Space.

We can't wait to develop the space, the programming, the activities for the Piazza and the Gallery.

We are grateful to Tom Costa, owner of 140 Gazebo Place; Park Building Owners; City of Johnstown; Peoples Gas; Lee Initiatives; Community Foundation for the Alleghenies. Facilitators include Sender Paving; Ryan Kieta, consultant; JWF, fabricator; and Jerry Ericsson, contractor.
