Cheney Library Celebrates Retiring Board President Deborah Tudor
On Tuesday, January 24, Cheney Library honored Ms. Deborah Tudor for her 12 years of service on the Cheney Library Board of Trustees. During her tenure as a trustee, Ms. Tudor made immense contributions to physical improvements of the library’s property. Some of these projects include the installation of a propane fireplace, creation of the downstairs Children’s Room, and the renovation of the downstairs Multipurpose Room. As president, Ms. Tudor also oversaw the installation of the library’s main parking lot, van-accessible parking area, wheelchair access ramp, air conditioning systems, and flagpole. These improvements have made a significantly positive impact on library services. Under Ms. Tudor’s leadership, the library drastically increased its accessibility, sustainability, and number of technological resources.
In addition, Ms. Tudor played an active role in the Friends of the Library, volunteering at library events and helping increase visibility in the community. During Ms. Tudor’s presidency, 5 Little Cheney Libraries were installed in Hoosick Falls: at the Rescue Squad/EMS Station, the Head Start, the Louis Miller Museum, near the Fire Department and tennis courts, and at the Village Green. The little libraries encourage members of the community to “take a book, leave a book.” All books are free, and do not need to be returned.
On the same evening, Kay Powers was named new Board President.
The library extends its sincerest gratitude for Ms. Tudor’s dedication to ensuring Cheney Library remains a versatile community hub with modern resources in an ever-changing world.
