- QCAIR Annual Citizenship Honors Dinner -

Meet Our Distinguished Speakers
We are excited to remind you about our upcoming Annual Citizenship Honors Dinner, which will take place on Saturday, April 15th at The Center in Davenport (1411 N Brady St.). This event celebrates the outstanding contributions of our immigrant and refugee community in the Quad Cities.

QCAIR is honored to host this event to celebrate and support our immigrant and refugee neighbors. This event will also feature food from local restaurants and will provide free childcare for children under 12. While the event is free we do ask individuals to register in advance

Most importantly, we will hear from four distinguished speakers who will share their experiences and perspectives as immigrants to the United States. We are thrilled to introduce the following speakers.
Yen's father fought for the Southern Vietnamese Army and left Vietnam on a boat when Yen was just 3.5 years old. They were eventually reunited in Iowa when Yen was 7 years old and she became a US Citizen at 13. Today, Yen works for a nonprofit helping at-risk youth graduate and find jobs. Yen enjoys spending time with her son, and boyfriend, and playing tennis and pickleball.
Najib was born and raised in Afghanistan and has 23 years of experience as an aid worker, working with MSF, IOM, UNHCT, and USAID. He fled to the United States in 2021 and now works as a Resettlement Manager with World Relief Quad Cities where he helps new refugees resettle and start a new life in the Quad Cities.
Niyongabire Prosper is a proud Burundian who moved to the United States in 2007. Since then he has been enjoying a peaceful life in the states.
Juan Ortiz, CEO of A&J Construction, specializes in insurance claims in the Quad Cities. Originally from Tijuana, Mexico, Juan has been living in the Quad Cities since 1995. He started as a welder at Silver Steel and worked on construction projects in his spare time. Despite facing language barriers, Juan obtained his roofing license and, with the help of his wife, Ambar Garfias-Ortiz, started A&J Construction. Today, Juan and his family are proud Quad Cities residents committed to serving the community.
