Home equity is the stake in your home you actually own. The more equity you have, the more you stand to gain when it’s time to sell later on. You can also tap home equity via loans or lines of credit when you need to pay for home improvements, medical bills, college tuition or any other costs that you might be dealing with.

Kira Kaplinski
Featured Photographer
Kira Kaplinski is a photographer who holds this hobby and passion very close to her heart. She remembers having a darkroom in her childhood home and how fascinating it was to watch her father develop film. When she first got into photography around 30 years ago, she initially started with darkroom techniques, but it wasn't long before digital photography started to take over.
Photography is something that's taken Kaplinski all around the world. She's visited all seven continents and over 50 countries, saying that one of her goals is to "inspire people to travel and go to see places that are far from their houses." However, the location she finds her self returning to time and time again is more local. She describes South Bethany as "magical" and talks about her appreciation for the ocean and how beautiful nature appears here. Kaplinski's favorite part about her photography is the different color combinations she can capture.
If the images above interest you, Kaplinski has prints for sale and is featured in some permanent exhibits in McLean, Virginia. Her photos have been published in several magazines, websites, newspapers, and books including National Geographic, Britannica, and BBC News.

Delaware's Most Interesting Roadside Attractions
Only in Delaware
If you spend enough time driving through the First State, you’ll spot plenty of strange sights on the side of the road. Whether you live in Sussex, Kent, or New Castle County, a drive through Delaware can be filled with empty fields and farmland. With the few attractions listed below, your drive can become more interesting. For example, the World War II towers along the Sussex County coastlines still stand, with some lighting up at sunset and one you can climb at Cape Henlopen State Park. In Delmar, you can view the giant crab outside of the Old Mill Crab Shack, a very Delawarean attraction. Finally, if you ever find yourself around the Dover Downs International Speedway, keep your eyes peeled for Miles the Monster, known as the world's largest monster. There are plenty of local attractions as well, but if you're a native Delawarean, you're sure to have come across the three listed above at least once in your lifetime.
