RD38 MONTHLY MEETING, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 2ND 7PM, ON ZOOM
Our regular meeting will be on Zoom at 7. We expect four guests seeking election to state party offices to speak briefly. Three are candidates for the Vice-Chair positions (2) and the fourth is seeking reelection as Secretary. We expect them to discuss their qualifications and their vision for where the Party should be heading. State party officer positions will be filled at the State Convention on June 12th.
The agenda for the RD38 meeting is posted at pdf and docx. Further, the draft minutes for the May meeting are posted at pdf and docx. All Democrats are welcome at RD38 meetings but advance registration is required. Zoom registration link: 38th RD Democratic Committee June Meeting.
CONVENTION COMMITTEE INFORMATION
Aside from electing the new officers, a major aspect of the Convention is to hear reports from three key committees, and vote on their acceptance. These are the Platform, Resolutions, and Rules Committees. These Committees will be holding public meetings in the coming week to receive feedback on their draft reports. More information on these meetings is available in the follow documents (.doc and .pdf). (The links are alive only in the .doc version). My understanding is that the reports shouldn’t be amended from the convention floor.
CONVENTION ALTERNATE DELEGATES SOUGHT
RD38 has 11 Delegates for the upcoming convention on Saturday June 12th. We only have 2 Alternates. In case our named Delegates encounter conflicts that prevent their attendance (all on Zoom), then the Alternates can take their place. But, 2 Alternates might not be enough. We will solicit additional volunteers at the June 2nd meeting, and potentially vote on them. A motion will be made at the meeting to allow the Chair to solicit and appoint additional alternates, beyond those that step up before or at the meeting, should that be needed.
COUNTY PARTY VIRTUAL COFFEE OPEN HOUSE – JUNE 5TH
This will be at 9 on Saturday, and will feature the candidates for the state party officers. Further information at link.
