Dear Friends,
I would like to take this opportunity to offer my thanks to the members of the Mary & Martha Chapter of The Order of the Daughters of the King here at St. John’s. The Order is a Christian Community of women in the Episcopal Church, and those Churches that are in full Communion with the Episcopal Church. The women of our chapter have been especially holding the members of this Parish, and the Parish community, in their prayers over the past year. I am thankful, but not surprised, because the mission of The Order is to be the extension of Christ’s kingdom through prayer, service, and evangelism. During the pandemic, members of our Mary & Martha Chapter have been discerning the future of their ministry and have decided to reengage their formation together as a group. Their vows of prayer, service, and evangelism are at the very core of our identity as Christians, and the revival of mission and relationships that Bishop Curry is calling the Church to in these days. Members of The Order are challenged to exemplify prayer, service, and evangelism for the entire Parish community, charisms that are necessary if we are to faithfully live into our mission of forming disciples to be the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus. Since the entire Chapter is journeying through formation together, this is the perfect time to join this group of Spirit-filled women. If you would like to know more about The Order of the Daughters of the King, please go to their website and check them out, and if you feel that God may be calling you to discern membership in this vibrant community, please speak with Cyndi Knoll (Chapter President), or Sue O’Brien (Past National President). Please keep these women in your prayers as they continue to serve Christ’s Church.
Faithfully,
Fr. Jeremy

COVID-19 UPDATE
As of today, suburban Cook County (Region 10) has entered into Phase 4 of the State's restoration plan and our local positivity rate is 5.4%. Accordingly the Standing Committee of the Diocese of Chicago has authorized all congregations in Region 10 to resume in-person gatherings of no more than 100 or 25% of the seating capacity (whichever is fewer).
For St. John's this means that beginning this Sunday, February 7, we can resume worship inside the church with gatherings of no more than 50 per service. We will resume the 11:00 am service this Sunday, and will plan to add additional services as attendance dictates. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Fr. Jeremy.

THANK YOU!!!!!
2020 was a difficult year for many of us personally, and for our congregation as a community. We are so thankful for each of you and the gifts you bring to this Parish, and we are thankful that we ended 2020 with a surplus of over $14,000.
2021 is looking to be just as challenging, and while we have passed a balanced budget for the first time since 2013, it came at a cost. Our mission and ministry is not fully funded. If you have not pledged for 2021, please consider doing so today by contacting Sarra in the Parish Office.
Remember that there are several ways to make your gift to St. John's. You may put it in the offering plate if you are attending worship in-person. Or you may mail a check to:
St. John the Evangelist
P.O. Box 25
Flossmoor, IL 60422
Or by setting up automatic bill pay through your bank (this is a free service of most banks).
Or by clicking on the "Online Giving" button below. If you give online, please consider clicking the box that allows you to add 3% to cover the processing fees from the credit card companies.
