Dear friends,
I invite you to keep our nation in your prayers over this next week. As we have witnessed an invasion in our nation's capitol last week, something that the full force of the Confederate Army was never able to accomplish, we have been promised more violence leading up to next Wednesday's inauguration of President-Elect Biden. These are dark times for our country, made even darker still by the realization that those invaders and those who are threatening to do even more violence this weekend are overwhelmingly represented by white nationalists and white supremists and accompanied by symbols of hate and death. We are called to pray without ceasing, but this week we especially need to offer our prayers for peace and justice and unity.
I invite you to join me on Wednesday morning at 8:30 am for a service of Morning Prayer, as we pray for our nation on Inauguration Day. Click here to join the Zoom gathering.
I also invite you to watch our Bishop-Elect, The Rev. Canon Paula Clark as she preached from the Washington National Cathedral this past Sunday. You can watch the full service by clicking here. Her sermon begins at the 33:45 mark.
As we struggle to make sense of our world, even as we continue to struggle with the effects of COVID-19, please know that you are loved and that you are in my prayers.
Grace & peace,
Fr. Jeremy

2021 Pledge Appeal
As of today, we are only $9,867 away from having a fully funded and BALANCED budget for 2021.
As of today, 47 out of the 91 ACTIVE families at St. John the Evangelist have pledged their financial support for our work and mission in 2021. That means there are still 44 families who have not yet joined us on this journey toward Faith Filled Generosity.
If you have not yet pledged, please prayerfully consider doing so today. To pledge, either return the physical pledge card you received in the mail to the church, or go to the Stewardship page of our website and complete your pledge card online. If you would like to see a summary of St. John's Budget (current as of October 31) and to see the initial draft of our 2021 Budget please click here.
Please keep the Finance & Stewardship Committee and your Vestry in your prayers as they work to approve a balanced budget for this year.

By signing up with Scrip you can do your shopping (at most of the stores you are already shopping at) with prepaid cards and Scrip offers a percentage of what you spend back to St. John's. There is NO cost to you.
This is also a great way to purchase all those gift cards you will want to give as Christmas gifts this year.
Please go to the scrip page of our website for more information.
If you have any questions, please contact Pat Smith-Huntoon at sjescrip@gmail.com.
The next Scrip order will be submitted at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17
