World Council News #3, 19 January 2022
|
|
Welcome to the third issue of World Council News, which is also available in Spanish and French. (See the links to previous bulletins in all three languages at the bottom of this bulletin.)
The excitement builds as we approach the YMCA Movement’s defining, four-yearly event. And yet we continue to live in very uncertain Covid times. You may well be asking: will the live event take place?
Our answer: we will confirm for sure by or on 28 February.
If and hoping it does: participant health and safety will be paramount, and best Covid policy and practices will be observed. Full vaccination will be mandatory following the Guidelines for entering Denmark issued by the Danish Government, and testing will be offered.
And if it doesn't: World YMCA will fully reimburse registration fees, and any hotels booked before 28 February.
So either way we ask you to register NOW, before the extended 'earlybird' deadline of 18 February.
From your side, that means you take advantage of earlybird fees. And from our side, it means you help us plan the event in terms of logistics and finance. More details are below, and we commit to keeping you updated at every step.
Look again at the logo: prepare to join us, and Ignite the global YMCA Movement!

‘We’re watching the Covid situation closely, and doing all in our power to make the live event in Aarhus happen. Onwards!’
Patricia Pelton, President, World YMCA

To register for either the live or the online event, go to the official World Council website.

A reminder of the fees:
- In-person: 'earlybird' USD 950 per person to 18 February, and USD 1100 thereafter. Registration fees will be reimbursed if the live event cannot go ahead.
- On-line: USD 100 per person at any stage, or go via your YMCA National Movements to benefit from block booking prices. They are being offered a discounted fee of USD 1,500 for 100 people or USD 3,000 for 200 people.
We have prepared a Registration Tutorial Video to guide the process. Please register as soon as possible, and at the latest by the extended 'earlybird' deadline of 18 February (not 31 January as stated in the video).

Travel
Do you need an entry visa for Schengen/Denmark? You can automatically download a visa invitation letter from your email registration confirmation. Apply for your visa at least 3 months in advance of World Council.
Covid
Check the current Covid restrictions, and see whether you meet the vaccination requirements currently valid in Denmark. The website will be continually updated with the latest situation in Denmark, but you should also check the requirements for returning to your own country. See the Covid page on the World Council website for more details on the Covid measures we will take before, during and after World Council.
Hotels
The World Council team has made block bookings with many hotels in Aarhus, and all of them are within walking distance of the Conference Centre. You can reserve your hotel when you complete your registration. You may also book your own accommodation if you choose. Cancellation fees for the hotels will be incurred from 28 February (please check details for the hotel you have chosen). For this reason, World YMCA will not keep rooms available from the end of February, after which participants will have to book their own rooms directly with the hotel of their choice.

|
We are still working on the programme for the live and online events, and will share it in February. We are currently finalising the structure of plenary sessions, the keynote speakers, the participants in the engagement panels, the composition of the Co-Labs teams, and a series of side meetings. Please watch the Programme page on the website.

We’re here to help: worldcouncil@ymca.int
This is World Council News #3. Like News #1 and News #2, this News #3 is sent to all our World YMCA contacts. We plan that subsequent bulletins will be sent to World Council registrants only. However, all YMCA audiences will be kept informed about the World Council via the separate monthly World YMCA news bulletins, normally issued on the first day of the month. These specific World Council News bulletins will appear at mid-month until June 2022, and daily during the event, 3-9 July 2022.
