World Council News #2, 16 December 2021

Français & Espanól

Welcome to the second issue of World Council News, which is also available in Spanish and French.Since we last wrote, registration for both the in-person and on-line components has opened at the new, official World Council website

There's an ‘early bird’ registration fee of USD 950 available for in-person attendees until 31 January, while for on-line attendees the individual fee is USD 100, but YMCA National Movements will be offered a discounted fee of USD 1,500 for 100 people or USD 3,000 for 200 people. All those wishing to benefit from the discounted on-line rate should therefore contact their National Movements.

Please be assured that we are watching the COVID situation very closely, and all the more so now with the discovery of the Omicron variant.  We will continue to react and to take decisions with the utmost consideration.

As it stands, we are fully committed to two full and equal experiences: the on-line and the in-person. A visit by the Implementation Team to Aarhus from 17-19 November revealed the exceptional facilities of the Music House venue and its surroundings, as well as the far-sighted and detailed preparations already made by our friends and hosts at YMCA Denmark. Meanwhile our own World YMCA experience of running three global YMCA Youth Led Solutions Summits in the last 12 months will also be invaluable for the on-line event.

For the in-person event, we're very pleased to have taken over 300 registrations so far in the form of block bookings from YMCA National Movements.

We will keep in very close touch with you, and we look forward to being with you in July 2022.

To register, go straight to the official World Council website, or alternatively reach it by clicking on the WORLD COUNCIL tab at the top-right-hand corner of the World YMCA Website.

Please note that if the in-person event is cancelled due to COVID-19 or any other ‘Force Majeure’, then registration fees will be reimbursed fully.

Please check out our Registration Tutorial Video to guide you step-by-step.

COVID regulations
Check the current COVID restrictions, and see whether you meet the vaccination requirements currently valid in Denmark. The website will be continually updated with the latest situation in Denmark, but you should also check the requirements for returning to your own country.

Hotel accommodation

You can reserve your hotel when you complete your registration. You may also book your own accommodation if you choose.
Programme options
Please note that options such as Excursions, Co-Labs etc. are not yet available. We will send updates as registration options become available, so please check the website regularly.
Here’s a ‘Register now’ banner in the three languages. If you’re a national YMCA, feel free to replace the generic worldwide YMCA logo at the bottom right with the logo of your YMCA National Movement. Please always use the hashtag #YMCAignite2022.

Bulletins to follow in 2022
Over the first six months of 2022, we will look at the key themes of the meeting, including:
  • Vision 2030 – one vision, one mission, four shared Pillars of Impact: Movement-wide
  • Co-Labs - the working sessions on the four pillars of Vision 2030: Community Wellbeing, Meaningful Work, Sustainable Planet, Just World.
  • Governance: choosing a new President, Deputy-President and Treasurer, and the new members of the now-smaller World YMCA Executive Committee
  • Denmark – meet our in-person hosts, and the fine city of Aarhus
We’re here to help:
This is World Council News #2. Like News #1, it is sent to all our World YMCA contacts, and subsequent bulletins will be sent to World Council registrants only. However, all YMCA audiences will be kept informed about the World Council via the monthly World YMCA news bulletins.  These specific World Council News bulletins will appear monthly until June 2022, and daily during the event, 3-9 July 2022.
