Dear Friends and Neighbors,
Saturday marks the end of the 2020 Virginia General Assembly Legislative Session. As I look back on the past two months, I am proud of the work we have accomplished together.
This was a historic session for many reasons. It was the first time in over twenty years that Democrats have held the majority in both the House and Senate. It had one of the most diverse Delegations in history, with the first female Speaker of the House at our helm. And it was historic because of the important legislation that we passed; laws that ensure Virginian’s safety, increase our minimum wage, and recognize women as equal citizens.
This year, my office introduced a strong legislative agenda that focused on issues of housing, transportation, public safety, and voting rights. I am proud to report that sixteen of our bills were passed by the General Assembly and will now make their way to the Governors desk to be signed. Below, you can see a more detailed outline of this year’s legislation.
Thank you for everyone that reached out to my office this session to share your perspectives, lobby on behalf of legislation, and push for the change that you want in your communities. Your input was invaluable as I considered legislation this year.
As always, feel free to reach out to my office at any time about issues that are important to you. You can reach out to us by emailing or by calling 804-698-1071.
