Property owners can direct questions about erosion issues to EGLE’s Environmental Assistance Center at 800-662-9278 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by email to

Ask Dave 👔

Q: This is a question that gets asked a lot, "Where do I even start?".

A: The home buying process seems scary, confusing and straight-up daunting to most first-time home buyers. There are so many moving parts and boxes that need to be checked, most don't even know where to begin.

My advice is to go talk to a lender to start. This will not only shed some light on your financing options, but most Realtors® will require a pre-approval letter to put an offer in on a property. Once you've talked to a lender you will find out if you are pre-approved for a loan, you'll have a better idea of how much house you can afford and you can start to shop your rate.

That's where I come in. Now that your lender has supplied you with the basics for your home search, like how much you can actually spend, that helps narrow down your search parameters so I can go to work finding your perfect home.
