Dear readers, it’s December and the festive holidays are just around the corner. Most of us has spend the late summer and autumn months longing for a ‘normal’ Christmas and New Years only to get here and feel yet again defeated. It will be far like any other Christmas and New Years that we’ve had so far, but rest assure reader dear, it will definitely be an interesting one to reflect on in the future.
I on the other hand am quite looking forward to Christmas with COVID measurements in place. I for one am quite happy spending a quality Christmas with just 2-3 family members, far far away from my dear old Aunt Judy.
The last time Aunt Judy was around, she spent the whole evening reminding me of how my cousin - Jonathon recently got promoted and is now responsible for a multimillion dollar investment project. She cannot strongly emphasise enough that Jonathon is very highly paid. Chelsea, my other cousin, is now head of a big law firm and has just completed her purchase of a properly overlooking the river Thames in the center of London worth millions… As uninterested as I was, I couldn’t help but think to myself, “I did med school (tho I have a massive study debt), I own 4 beautiful bicycles, I just bought 20 jars of peanut butter in one go because I can never remember to replenish them when I need them most, I’m writing a really cool book (aka thesis), and I managed to teach my cat to sit, lie down and shake paws on command”. Wow, that, in my books is not bad at all! I think I may be quite the amusingly amazing person. Don’t you think so?
I have never looked forward to Christmas dinner as much as I have now. So, buckle up and let us all get ready to greet the festive holiday with an arms wide full of positivity. Wont miss you, Aunt Judy!
Happy Holidays everyone!
