WHERE IS WASHINGTON STATE WINE COUNTRY?
HOW DO THEY MAKE GREAT WINE?
Did you know Washington State Wine Country and surrounding area wineries grow over 70 different types of grape varieties? It is also the second-largest wine region in U.S.A. The wines have true character  and depth of flavour. Both grape growers & vintners work together to craft wines that have superstar taste qualities and they also win a lot of awards! There are 14 unique wine growing regions across and each area possesses a unique combination to produce amazing wines. Columbia Valley is the largest area in Washington with nearly 11 million acres. 
BUT, ISN'T SEATTLE WET? 
 
You bet, it is! But pass over the Cascade Mountains and the average rainfall lowers from 355cm to 17cm making it perfect for grape growing. The Cascade Mountains create a 'rain shadow' effect allowing Washington State to be a  mecca for wine production. The region offers over 300 days of sunshine and offers the perfect amount of rain for grapes to stress and create fantastic juice. Nestled at 46 degrees latitude, Washington State is a heaven for grape growing and is a unique region to explore from the comfort of your own home.

Are you crazy for rocks? Well, you're in luck! Washington State is full of historical cataclysmic natural events that have played a big part in what makes it a unique wine growing region. Including Missoula floods, volcanic soils, glacial and ice-age deposits, Washington State if full of kick-ass cool geology that helps to make some of the best wine ever. An active volcanic region, these wines are on FIRE and are a great way to have a wine adventure!
