The Suns is moving to...
Howdy family and friends, grace and peace to y'all! :)

We are praying for y'all and trusting that our Lord is looking after you and your family. We have some exciting ministry and life updates to share with you!

After more than 2 years of waiting to move and serve in New Zealand, we were informed by the lawyer early this year that we will have to wait for at least another year until 2023 to start over the visa process. And to be honest, it has been a stretching and hard season for our family to have waited in the past 2 years and with Jocelyn's graduation coming up that we need to move out of DTS in the end of May, we ought to figure out where we should move to and how to provide for the family financially. So we began to seek God's will for our next step by praying, fasting and discerning.

And God began to do new things as He always does. An organization called LIFE International (https://www.lifeinternational.com) that we have been trained and partnered since 2021 reached out to us early this year to consider a full time position, pastor of partner care. The responsibility is to oversee all the delegates (leaders and pastors) from all the countries of Southeast Asia, Oceania and Northern America.

After much prayer, fasting and discerning, our hearts for NZ God has placed on our heart 2 years ago has not changed and the nature of this job with LIFE aligns with our heart to focus on the global mission. What's affirming from the Lord is that NZ will be one of the countries under the watch of this position as well. So instead of moving to NZ, we will be able to serve alongside the Colemans and the local churches in NZ in different ways through partnership and collaboration.

As you can imagine, it's a significant shift God is doing in and through our family, but we rest our future in the hands of God and trust the providence and guidance of God with transcending peace as we are committed to LIFE for the next season of ministry. Now we are packing and getting ready to move to Grand Rapids Michigan in June. :)

Mission of Life: LIFE exists to uphold the value of all human life and endeavors to see a world where people of all nations find their hope and healing in Jesus.

Partnership: LIFE seeks to partner with Christian leaders, pastors and churches to make known the Father’s heart for life and proclaim God’s love for all human beings from conception to natural death (womb to tomb). Local followers of Christ are then empowered to respond to the devaluation of human life in their communities through the development of life-giving ministries in their churches, cities and counties. They have equipped more than 15,000 leaders for ministry in more than 100 nations (South Africa, Libya, Congo, Lesotho, Cambodia, India, Thailand, Burma, Ecuador, Bolivia, Croatia, Kenya, Malta, Hungary, Ukraine and more and counting).

We pray for you to join us to be the life givers and bring it to your mission field, church and ministry. 🔥🔥🔥

Here are some of the topics provided in the training:
  • The Biblical Worldview
  • The Sacredness of Human Life
  • God's design for the Family
  • Family Planning
  • Biblical Sexuality
  • Human Reproduction
  • Abortion
  • Repentance, Forgiveness and Healing
Jocelyn is graduating!!!
Jocelyn is graduating!!! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!!! We still couldn't believe it, but we are super thankful for God and for your years of prayer and partnership to support Jocelyn to finish seminary.  You are cordially invited, but if you are not able to join us in person, here is link for lifestream on Saturday.

God has used this season of preparation at Dallas Theological Seminary to teach us, stretch us and humble us in so many ways. Studying and learning under the professors at DTS has equipped us for decades of ministry to come. As we continue the journey of faith, we will deeply miss friends and yet we are reminded that this is not a landing place, but a launching pad where God uses and sends so many out from Dallas equipped to share the love of Jesus around the world.
Ministry Updates
Cypress Bible Church, Houston
In February, we were invited by our good friend, pastor Chang, to speak at High school retreat (City Light) at Cypress Bible Church for the second time. Our Father has done it again to allow us to proclaim His truth, declare His hope, witness His power in the kingdom business of debunking our toxic desires, learning to discern the voice of our God from the lies of the enemy, restoring our position in the Lord from the false position in the world, breaking many chains of sin, strengthening our faith and changing many lives. This is the labor of your fruit! 🔥🔥🔥

And this time is a hugely special one because the Suns kids got to serve alongside daddy and mommy for the first time to sing and declare the truth of our Father! We praise God for their yearning heart and the training they have received from Kids Worship Arts at First Baptist Dallas. Thank you so much for journeying with us!
Deeper Still, Knoxville
In February, Jocelyn got to serve at Someone Cares, a post-aborted retreat, based in Dallas. In March, our family was privileged to travel to Knoxville Tennessee to attend Deeper Still fundraising banquet and shared our testimony with close to 300 donors and board members and recorded the video for the ministry.

Here is the video for Deeper Still virtual Banquet 2022 and our story begins at 17'40, but we encourage you to watch the entire video to hear other powerful and redemptive testimonies.

Evangelical Chinese Church, Seattle
In March, we got to travel to Seattle to speak at the college retreat (Common Ground College Ministry) of Evangelical Chinese Church. God did His mighty work again to have brought several students to accept Jesus and many have rededicated their life back to the Lord! Hallelujah!!! We are so humble to be part of this anointing community where the spirit of God dwells and resides. 🔥🔥🔥

We thought we came here to minister but we have been greatly ministered and deeply loved by our Father through their incredible hospitality including the heartfelt handwritten cards, an impromptu hearty sushi meal, FOGO de SHAO gift card for our anniversary, loving and caring our kids like 24/7 and most important of all, the heart of a shepherd in all the leaders despite the storm the church is currently facing.

When you remember the students, would you say a prayer for them that they will be marked as prevailing people of God in the pursuit of deep abiding life by standing firm and walking with God daily living in such a hostile city.
Encouragement from the student:

hi Pastor Ric! I mostly just wanted to thank you and your family more personally for the messages, which were so clearly full of passion, and for sharing your stories so genuinely. I was especially struck by the last two messages, specifically on self-reliance and surrendering to God knowing that i was never in control in the first place. And on living a missional life. I have a friend from high school who is very much not Christian and has had bad experiences with church in the past who has been reaching out recently for seemingly no reason just to chat about completely random things and go on walks. And i've recognized it as an opportunity from God, but I think the tools you gave CG today are really going to help me moving forward with how to witness to her. But thank you again for flying all the way over with all your little ones to hang out with a bunch of college kids and help us hear what God wants us to hear for a couple days. Enjoy Seattle :)) God is good!!
Black Forest Academy, Germany
In April, God sent us to another speaking ministry. And this time is a missionary boarding school in Germany. Our heart is so full, thrilled and humble that we got to be a small part of something so great. Jocelyn got to share her testimony and our kids were leading a worship song Kyra wrote while Ric took the back seat. :)

God has helped us to witness that whether its 1 soul or 200+, pandemic or not, the power of the Gospel will never lose its effectiveness and the burning fire in our souls has not changed a bit to make our Father known.

After many hours of preparations, countless sleepless nights, 15,000+ words, urgent prayers, timely words of encouragements, 3 days of camp with 4 messages of God's Word, the Gospel has been preached, lives have been stirred, decisions have been made, faith has been rededicated and worshipers have turned into warriors! Hallelujah!!!

Black Forest Academy is such an anointing place in the heart of Western Europe where the Holy Spirit dwells and resides. There are 80+ teachers who came from all parts of the States to serve as missionary supported by hundreds and thousands of supporters combined all around the world. What’s even mind-boggling is that students’ family is serving in 40+ countries around the globe.

We have so much hope and respect for Black Forest Academy as we are standing on the shoulders of so many incredible leaders, pastors and teachers who are faithfully dedicating their lives to pour out their love to the students without holding anything back. They are a bunch of radical people of God who love Jesus so much and the students so well.

Thank y'all so much for your faithful prayers and financial support to journey together with us in the partnership of the Gospel that we got to witness the mighty work of God in the other side of the earth. 🔥🔥🔥
Encouragement from the student:

I wanted to write you guys a thank you for flying over and planning talks and the song and bearing with high school students. After the first session, I immediately knew, your family is exactly how I want to be when I grow up :) Thank you for being living examples of the loving God and thank you for sharing the goodness of Jesus. I’ve had amazing one-to-one time with Him over the three days, and you’ve helped me refocus my center on Jesus. Out of the many many things you said, it gave me goosebumps to feel God speaking directly to me with the words coming out of your mouth. Wow. Thank you for being passionate about faith and wanting to share the good news.
Family News
We would never imagine in thousand years that we could set foot on Disney World. But this year, Jocelyn's sister and brother-in-law have been so gracious and generous to bless our family with this pre-graduation gift for Jocelyn, so we got to go and experience Disney World for the very first time. We are beyond thankful!
Family was playing color run along with other students in front of the beautiful and stunning Alps in Lenk, Switzerland.
I (Ric) remember in my early days of fatherhood and asked a dear friend whose family is thriving in mission, how to help kids to grow their heart for God’s mission? He told me, let the kids taste and see (soar and explore) the world God created! And I took it to heart and included our kids to serve our Lord with every possible opportunity! Today, it is still a significant reminder to our family as we continue to build up their cultural value and biblical worldview together in God’s big and beautiful world. Here is the itinerary for our trip in Europe,

4/20 (driving):
Kandern, Germany - Basel, Switzerland - Milan, Italy (will drive through the stunning Alps)

4/21 (train):
Milan, Italy (will visit Milan Cathedral)

4/22 (driving):
Milan, Italy - La Spezia, Italy - Nice, France (will finally see our friends with 8 Ukrainians family)

4/25 (flying):
Nice, France - Frankfurt, Germany - DFW (Home sweet home)
We had a privilege to meet an Ukrainian family!!! We enjoyed each other's company so much that we sang worship songs in English and Ukrainian to encourage each other. Their faith is so strong that they are still trusting in God and persevering through the hard time. What is mind-boggling is that they continue to confess and repent their sins, so that they may receive peace. They are even praying for the Russians and wanted to go to a Russian church in France to worship with them. We are greatly encouraged by their confidence and hope in the Lord. Please continue to pray for their family in Ukraine.
Kyra got to participate Bible Drill at First Baptist Downtown for the very first time. She worked hard to memorize 25 verses in King James Version, Key passages and finding books of the Bible in 10 seconds or less. Though she joined half way through the semester, she incredibly passed her church drill, associate drill and state drill with perfect score. We praise God for her diligence and resilience through it all.
Zion got to crash Daddy's discipleship group. :) Ric is beyond grateful to have brothers who is willing to grow together in the pursuit of God's mission and calling together.
Our packing and cleaning crew in action! Aren't they cute?! :)
Partner With Us
In every prayer for all of you, I always pray with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. - Philippians 1:4-6

The Suns family is beyond thankful for your unceasing prayer and generous support. We can do what we do to share the Gospel and make disciples for the advancement of the kingdom only because of you. We believe that wherever God places us, we are called to thrive to the utmost, share the love of Christ, worship Him and enjoy His presence. We are committed to walking by faith and trusting our Father's provision for the cost of living here and in Michigan.

We invite you to continue this journey of faith with us.
