Proverbs 30:5

Every word of God proves true;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

Marriages predictably improve when people get healthy and become friends.

A powerful way to bring health into your marriage is to tell the truth, value the truth, love the truth.

But here's where "truth-tellers" get it wrong.

Telling the truth in a way that strengthens the relationship is different than not lying.

Proverbs 30:5 shows that not only are God's words true, they provide protection like a shield and refuge.

And this is the upside-down idea: Speaking the truth in a relationship is not only about promoting accuracy but also safety.

Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ. Ephesians 4:15

Speaking the truth in a way that strengthens your relationship is a marker of spiritual health.

Be kind and keep talking,
Brooke and Brian
