VFAHT

VCON 2021

Annual Volunteers Congress 2021, a virtual event, was organized by the Volunteers Force Against Hepatitis Transmission (VFAHT), a division of IPAC Foundation in collaboration with Milkar.com on June 25 and 26.

The VCON is a national summit of office bearers and volunteers working under the umbrella of VFAHT for the reduction of the burden of infectious diseases from Pakistan.

Under Shadow of a Pandemic, COVID One Year Later!
On 28th June, AKU LC held its annual event, "Under Shadow of a Pandemic — COVID One Year Later." This was a follow-up to our last year's event, "In the Eye of the Storm," which sought to inform medical students about the emerging global pandemic days before lockdowns began.

Khubaib Samdani's Message:
Message: I joined the society because I am interested in volunteering for a public health cause, learning to work in a non-profit organization, and look closely at how they work. VFAHT is a perfect organization to work with as they have the best team in town. I felt proud when I saw the society arrange free screening camps in underprivileged areas of Rawalpindi and Islamabad.

Telehealth Infectious Diseases Clinic

IPAC Foundation is proudly announcing the launch of its very first Telehealth Infectious Diseases Clinic. It is the only platform in Punjab to provide free online doctor’s consultations, free lab tests, free medicines and vaccines to people suffering from common infectious diseases. This clinic provided free and quality healthcare services in Punjab and surrounding rural areas.

World Immunization Week – celebrated every year in the last week of April – aims to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease. Immunization saves thousands of children every year in Pakistan and is widely recognized as one of the world’s most successful health interventions.

Monthly Food Drive
According to Feeding America, 45 million Americans will suffer from food insecurity this year, a drastic increase from previous years as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to help such individuals affected by COVID-19, we are delighted to announce the hosting of a Food Drive every month.
Spikeball Fundraiser
A tournament-style Spikeball Fundraiser was held on June 5, 2021 at the Oak Brook Park District, IL. The entrance fee amount collected will be used to support the running of a Telehealth Infectious Diseases Clinic in Pakistan.
Webinar on Clearing Misinformation: COVID-19
The worldwide outbreak of coronavirus disease in 2019 (COVID-19) has been reflected in spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories concerning the extent of the pandemic and its cause, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment such as vaccines, social distance, and facial masks. Such persuasions have brought substantial, negative real-world results, but remain relatively unstudied.
This webinar was a myth-busting session about COVID-19 misinformation circulating around on social media. The Q&A session was based on current recommendations for the COVID-19.

Chiraghdin Community Health Center

Infectious Diseases Center Sialkot - a joint project of Infection Prevention & Control Foundation, and Chiraghdin Foundation. The center is housed on the ground floor of the Chiraghdin Community Health Center and will provide free quality healthcare services to 10,000 deserving patients annually from Sialkot and neighbouring villages. The center includes Hepatitis & HIV Clinic, TB & COVID19 Clinic, Infectious Diseases Clinic, Diagnostic Lab, Pharmacy, Immunization Center, and a Telehealth Clinic.

The facility also houses a community hall which will organize community awareness programs and walks on public health days.

Pandemic Preparedness and Response
This online certification course will enable the participants to understand the basic concepts of pandemics. The course will take you through the methodology of preparations and response to a global pandemic. It will focus on the public health laws, guidelines, tools, and processes that make the framework for an effective prevention plan. It will also discuss the practices of local communities to manage the disease impact.
Development and Rollout of COVID-19 Vaccines
The COVID-19 pandemic has infected millions and caused over a million deaths across the world. There has been a scientific consensus that the most effective way to stop a pandemic is the introduction of a vaccine. Scientists across the globe have worked rapidly to develop an effective vaccine.

Certification Workshop
 
The Infection Prevention and Control in Dental Healthcare Settings Campus Training is designed for the dental faculty and post-graduate residents at de’Montmorency College of Dentistry, Lahore.
The workshop will comprise of a lecture, followed by hands-on training and assessment. This training will equip the dental health care professionals with an understanding of basic guidelines regarding infection control in dental health care settings.
