SAIL and LAHWN Free Carbon Literacy Training for Leeds-based arts and culture workers

Since we had the first LAHWN meeting at Leeds Playhouse in October 2019, sustainability and climate change have been a key issue of interest to members across arts and health. We are excited to offer this Carbon Literacy training developed by Sustainable Arts in Leeds (SAIL) as a chance for members to get together and gain the skills, knowledge, and confidence to embed climate action and sustainable practice within our personal and professional lives. This training is suitable for anyone working in an arts and culture organisation, and as an individual artist, student or freelancer.

James Dove will be delivering our Carbon Literacy Training session:

"I have a background in marketing and operations within the music industry and am an active environmentalist and musician. I became Carbon Literate in Sept 2020 as I was keen to explore ways in which music could be used to promote environmental actions:  this led me to develop the first accredited Carbon Literacy course for the music industry, ClimateEQ. I believe that music and the arts are crucially important cultural industries that are uniquely placed to communicate the urgency of climate change and have the power and responsibility to be proactive leaders in driving climate change action. I strongly advocate that Carbon Literacy is a great first step in learning how to bridge the gap between climate awareness and climate action."

To ensure the training fits with other commitments the training involves flexible 'pre-learning' to complete when convenient and then a zoom session on Friday 12th November. On completion of the training, you will be supported to make a post-session pledge and to gain your certification of Carbon Literacy.
