3rd Cycle Grants Awarded

With the help of generous donors, CEF is able to provide funding for a wide spectrum of educational activities to benefit the students and the staff of the Chelsea School District. Contributions to CEF are given back to the school district through innovative grants for students, teachers and administrators, and as scholarships to CHS graduates.

CEF held three teacher grant cycles for the 2020-21 school year - one in October, one in January, and the last in April. By providing multiple opportunities, we aimed to support CSD teachers and students to move through the changing landscape of virtual and hybrid teacher-student interaction by awarding more than $27,700 in this school year.

During the third grant cycle, CEF Awarded $5,485.00 in Teacher Grants to the following programs:

This week is #TeacherAppreciationWeek! We’re saying “thank you” to CSD educators for helping us along the way.

Feeling inspired to thank one of your favorite teachers?
Tell us using #CEFThankATeacher and #ChelseaEducationFoundation!

Here are just a few reasons we are Thankful for our Chelsea Teachers:

1. Teachers inspire at every age and every stage

Whether it was an art teacher in third grade, a biology teacher in middle school, or a mentor during high school, our most memorable teachers continue to impact us as we advance through our careers and lives.

2. Teachers see potential in us when we don’t see it in ourselves

Sometimes it’s hard to see our own potential. That’s one of the great things about teachers — they help us see the best parts of ourselves!

3. Teachers encourage curiosity, wonder, and creativity

A teacher’s influence can extend far beyond their subject matter, setting us up for transformational experiences. In short, educators can truly change our lives.

CEF is pleased to help fund the 2021 #WHYYOUMATTER Campaign

CHS's 2021 campaign focused on the core question that initiated a school-wide art project five years ago. In an unprecedented year that prompted a lack of connections, we tried to help our staff and students reconnect to themselves and their peers by asking them to answer the question: “why do you matter?”

It wasn’t an easy task, but the student-led team developed a series of social-emotional lessons to help their fellow students think about why they are important in this world. Students first reached inside to find meaning, learned what other students believed about themselves, and then reached out to tell others why they matter to each other.

In two months and in a hybrid format, our team photographed over 700 students and staff and started a postcard campaign that reached far beyond our small town. We hope that when you look at these portraits, you think about why you matter, and you tell someone why they matter to you.
