1. INTRODUCTION: where are we?

Since our last Newsletter, MILE started different activities. Partners from all project's countries have run Capacity Building events and Workshops for local employers and relevant stakeholders. Also, partners and stakeholders participated at the Study Visit in Athens to explore local contexts and dynamics related with migrants labour integration in Greece. 2. FOCUS TOPIC: Migrants Entrepreneurship in Europe, an overview

For migrants, employment is not only a source of income, but also a pivotal activity to improve their integration more broadly. First, because it introduces the person in a diverse environment, where it's possible to establish relationships with local citizens; secondly, having a salary, makes possible to fulfill primary needs and have resources for socially related activities. Above, we have mentioned the Entrepreneurship 2020 Action Plan elaborated by the European Commission to promote and support migrants’ entrepreneurship. Here, we will present some of the best practices implemented in Italy and specifically in the city of Milan, where ICEI is based. In general, it can be said that a relatively high number people with international migration experience in Austria are active entrepreneurs. Due to language barriers, discrimination and difficulties in employers' recognition of foreign qualifications, migrants are often disadvantaged in finding employment. Read more...

  • Athens study visit 
The study visit took place form the 19 to the 20 of November, giving participants the opportunity of exploring the Greek context, especially influenced by the high presence of refugees and asylum seekers on the territory. Greece is the arrival country for the majority of the asylum seekers looking for shelter in Europe; but with the time, it nowadays became a destination country too. Read more...
