We are excited that you will be attending our Releasing an Enslaved Spirit Big Sit event on Zoom tomorrow, Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12 noon EDT.

We are excited you are gathering with us with our many members not only from the Atlanta area, northern Georgia, and across the country, but also from around the world in a unitive event where we all center together virtually in God’s love that releases an enslaved spirit.

Be aware this event will be recorded and posted later on Contemplative Outreach Atlanta’s YouTube channel. If you do not want your picture to appear, you can stop your video. If you do not want your name to appear, you can change that on your screen.

Below is your Zoom link. We will also send it again tomorrow morning. We suggest you save this link to your calendar so that it will be accessible to you. If you don't see tomorrow's email, please check your Spam folder. You can email us here if you encounter difficulties.

This Big Sit incorporates Lectio Divina, two 20-minute silent Centering Prayer sessions, and Zulu and Taizé peace songs in honor of the 157th anniversary of Juneteenth, the holiday celebrating the end of slavery in the United States. Our morning of peace will be inspired by reflections from the Very Rev. Michael Battle, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Rev. Howard Thurman. We recommend watching this 8-minute video here to discover Thurman’s influence grounded on his contemplative practice.

If you are new to Centering Prayer or would like information about how to practice the method, you can find Fr. Thomas Keating explaining it here. If you would like more information about Centering Prayer, email us here.

We recommend that you find a comfortable, quiet place in your home away from distractions that will support a sanctuary for our united silent prayer together.

This event is free. We deeply appreciate your donations of any amount. They will help defray our event and technology costs. You can donate on our website here. Thank you.

If you have any questions about this event, email us here.

Looking forward to praying and being with you,
Contemplative Outreach Atlanta Big Sit Team: Leslie Geer, Julie Gordon, Melba Hill Paschal, Nayoung Kim, Bernadette Porche, James Schippers, Karen Thomas, and Maggie Winfrey
