NC State's Howling Cow Creamery is open

The delicious ice cream made on N.C. State's campus is now available 7 days a week at the new
Howling Cow Dairy Education Center and Creamery.

The idyllic location, at 100 Dairy Lane off Lake Wheeler Road, scoops unique and traditional flavors from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays and noon to 7 p.m. Sundays.

Howling Cow ice cream comes from 300 North Carolina dairy cows, and the education center and creamery overlooks the dairy farm, with rocking chairs and a big front porch.

The Creamery offers cups, waffle cones and milkshakes, or you can grab pints to go (like the ones you can get at some Harris Teeter stores now) and or 3-gallon containers.

We'd recommend trying the Wolf Tracks first -- vanilla and fudge swirled with peanut butter cups.
