Looking for New Ways to Help Caregivers or Clients?

I have some wonderful updates to share with you for providing advice and support to families living with dementia, and for collaborating with service providers, professionals, and practitioners.

Welcome again to my virtual support community and the October blog. This one’s more newsy and a bit later in the month. I enjoyed travel and added some new initiatives and services.

First, I’m excited to reveal that I have recently been studying for the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® certification and happy to announce I passed the challenging exam. This will give me additional knowledge and credentials to advise and guide families living with dementia and other aging issues. I will also be better able to collaborate with my fellow professionals and service providers. For more info about the CSA designation: CSA designation

Next, for dementia caregivers and service providers, I recently started a new online support group on Facebook, Bill’s Dementia Support Group for Caregivers. This will be for questions, advice, discussion and sharing ideas. I will also post activities, classes and events of interest. Please feel free to join the group, engage, and make suggestions: Join Here!

Also, I am now trained to conduct Savvy Caregiver Training classes. Teaming up with Rhonda Kay Leonard with United Homecare, these free, six-week classes will help decrease caregiver stress and increase caregiver confidence. You will learn an understanding of dementia, tips on how to provide the best care, coping skills for the stages of dementia, and facts about the progression of dementia. Contact me for more info or to inquire about the next series of classes.

Finally, after attending the McGinty Conference the past few years, I’m excited to share with you this big news: I will be a speaker on a caregiving panel at the Alzheimer’s Association’s all-day conference. It’s on November 12 at the Oregon Convention Center and is free to the first 250 family caregivers.
Please register today while spots are available:
 McGinty.
