This week, I'd like to discuss the value of a strong network and support system; whether it be a workout buddy, a girl squad at the gym, or a friend you share healthy recipes with. Health and exercise partners provide a powerful combination of support, accountability, motivation and, in some cases, healthy competition.
Some of you may know that I am the oldest of three siblings. I admire my two younger brothers very much for a number of reasons, but I'd like to take this opportunity to give special recognition to my brother Paul. Over the course of about 18 months, I've watched him transform his body, mindset, and overall health.
Last summer, my youngest brother Colin got married. Paul was the best man. When they went to go get their suits for the wedding in early-2018, Paul's jacket size was a 54. By the time the wedding rolled around in August, Paul had already needed to have his suit taken in twice. Now he is down nearly 100 pounds and running 5Ks!
So how did he do this?
Well, for starters: Will power and a desire to live his healthiest life for his adorable family.
But also, he has a strong support system.
One of the best purchases he and his wife, Jessica, made were Apple Watches. With the watch, we track each other's workouts and progress. I am able to virtually cheer my brother on every day and let him know how proud I am!
He has also taken up running, and has surrounded himself with a strong network of friends and family that exercise with him.
And, of course, he has Jessica's non-stop support and love to get him through every day. :)
Words can't describe the pride and admiration I have for my brother and his strength (mental AND physical!).
