Hello Lighthouse Community,
We are glad to announce the launch of our Monthly Newsletter. Dedicated to members of the society & its alumni, it will be the chance for all of us to keep in touch!

Lighthouse Updates

As sad as it is to say goodbye to Ignace, we are very happy to announce that Chiara Richter is now our CEO! Bring it up Chiara, it's gonna be a crazy ride!

As Chiara fulfils her new role, she leaves the Head of Consulting role un-covered... But no worries, as Alessandro Sciascia is there, ready to take on the responsibility!

Business Development Department
Your BD associates and head are working towards exciting new partnerships, as well as organizing an amazing networking event opportunity that will take place in the second half of February (online). On this occasion, expert consultants and sustainability professionals will share their experience and reply to all the questions you might have about the field!

Sales Department
This term, sales is shifting focus from startups to more established companies (small and medium-size, in the long term). A brand new “pitch workshop” and “debriefing past projects workshop” will be implemented for all sales associates (in cooperation with the consulting department) to better understand what Lighthouse offers and what to focus on when looking for a new mission.

Marketing Department
The whole marketing department is currently hectically working on the new marketing campaign to onboard new associates! So let them feel your love by following Lighthouse’s Instagram and LinkedIn accounts, liking, commenting and sharing the posts

Human Resources Department
HR associates and head are currently working on... well, this newsletter! (We hope you enjoy it, btw!)
We are also going to be helping all departments to interview new associate candidates, and we are preparing an onboarding guide to give them (and all of you) some society guidelines.

Associate of the Month

From next month, we will start mentioning one - or maybe two - associates that did extremely well in that period.
So put your back into it, and get ready to VOTE for one of your peers, or even yourself!

Call to all associates from the Sales department:

Last semester all projects were brought through personal connections, displaying just how powerful this is for our association. So we want to encourage associates from all departments to refer contacts and potential leads to sales!

Consultancy Projects

Missions in progress:

  • GerneOhne (GO): this company, operating in the zero-waste shop industry, buys food products in bulk to fill glass jars and deliver them to the customers. When the customer consumed the products, the glass jars are returned to GO to be cleaned and start a new cycle.

    • Our mission: do a life-cycle assessment (LCA) of GO’s products to understand their carbon footprint (in CO2 emissions) compared to average supermarkets.
    • Started: October
    • Ending: end of January
    • Where we are now: all the primary data was provided by GO, the team is now looking for data concerning delivery methods. Once that is done, all the necessary data for the LCA will be available.
    • Responsible AssociatesAlessandro SciasciaChiara TaroniPaul-Antoine Calmel
  • Pool (fashion rental service - 2020, Berlin): “do you actually want to own that shirt or do you just want to wear it?”. Pool is a startup providing clothes from about 25 premium fashion brands to its paying members.

    • Our mission: do a market research on fashion services (how can Pool stand out?), provide a 2021 impact assessment (issue a clear impact number)
    • Started: October
    • Ending: unknown
    • Where we are now: the market research is almost completed (only conclusions and recommendations are missing), so the team will be ready to start the impact assessment soon.
    • Responsible AssociatesMaé OddoneLorenzo De MartinoRoshni RahejaLuca Vetrano
  • Positive Carbon (food tech - 2020, Ireland): in order to fight food waste, Positive Carbon proposes a fully automated waste monitoring system for hotels and big restaurant groups. This way, the clients can track and log all food waste and change their purchasing habits/save money and reduce food waste.

    • Our mission: create a “guide” to internationalize their product
    • Started: December
    • Ending: end of May
    • Where we are now: the project is happening within three main buckets: regulations and policies, market analysis, and operations and functioning. The framework of the project is now almost complete, and the team prepares to start with the first bucket.
