Hello, and welcome to Did You See My Email! a newsletter about good/funny/important things from around the internet.

This week, I'm using whatever modest influence this newsletter has to take a stand against racism and police brutality, and promote the Black Lives Matter movement.

Of course, the organizations/resources/podcasts/articles/etc. linked here have been compiled by just one, non-expert person (uhh me)...so if there are things you've seen/read/listened to/donated to this week, and you'd like to share, please do.

Some $$$ things

There are so many worthy groups and organizations to which you can donate, and figuring out which one can be pretty tough. Below are just a few options:

The George Floyd Memorial Fund.
Justice for Breonna Taylor.
I run with Maud.
The Bail Project is a national bail fund that pays bail for people in need.
Here's some information about local bail funds.
If you're unable to donate, watch this video (100% of the ad revenue is being donated).
Black-owned restaurants you can support in LA, NYC, and the Bay Area.
Plus, black-owned beauty brands and bookstores.

Some learning things

This video offers an easy-to-understand explanation of systemic racism.

We've talked about the 1619 podcast before—it is so, so important.
President Obama's response.
I listened to this podcast about how race was made and where racism comes from last year and learned SO much.
Also, this one about the systems that protect the police.
White supremacy explained.
Privilege explained.
Just Mercy is a movie, based on a true story about a lawyer who defends the wrongly convicted. It's streaming for free right now.
This FRONTLINE documentary about policing the police is on my to-watch list this weekend.

I can't stress enough that the things shared in this newsletter are just a teeny tiny piece of what can and needs to be done. Here are a few more resources I've found helpful:

This is brilliant. Email templates (based on data-backed policy changes), and the email addresses of exactly who you should send them to.
