In this newsletter for July, we're sharing two August events, our local Sponsorship Day event and the 2021 World Service Convention, and two updates from OA World Service.
The OA Board of Trustees has added two new special-focus meeting types. “Asian Pacific Islanders” and “Black, Indigenous, and People of Color” have been added to the special-focus drop-down menu in Find a Meeting on oa.org.
Other special-focus categories include 100-pounders, Anorexia/Bulimia, Bariatric Surgery, Health Issues, LGBT, Men, Women, and Young Persons.
Special-focus categories are designed to help OA members find the support they need for successful recovery and to support Unity with Diversity in our Fellowship.

Abstinence and Recovery
OA’s Abstinence and Recovery Policy was amended at WSBC 2021.
“Abstinence is the action of refraining from compulsive eating and compulsive food behaviors while working towards or maintaining a healthy body weight. Spiritual, emotional, and physical recovery is the result of working and living the Overeaters Anonymous Twelve Step program on a daily basis.”

A note about the 7th Tradition: The C.O.LA. Treasurer disperses 30% of the 7th Tradition we receive to OA World Service and 10% to OA Region 8, keeping the remaining 60% for our intergroup.
