Alaska Market Beet:

News for and by Alaska's Farmers Market Community!
National Farmers Market Week August 1-7!
Let’s celebrate Farmers Markets! National Farmers Market Week is a great opportunity to show the nation how much value markets bring to their communities. With fun events, specials, contests, and activities, the week helps to boost market attendance and visibility – while at the same time being loads of fun!

However, we know that it can be a lot of work to plan a festive week like this, so our friends at the Farmers Market Coalition are offering plenty of resources, tools, and fun activities of our own for market managers, vendors, and attendees alike to use for planning and participating in National Farmers Market Week!

Fingers crossed for an Alaska State Farmers Market Week Proclamation!

The Alaska Division of Agriculture is hosting Alaskan Agriculture Day at the Fair, Sunday August 29th. AFMA is partnering with them to bring micro farmers markets to each gate, a great way to showcase the diversity of products farmers markets across the state offer.
(Palmer, AK) – The Division of Agriculture and the Alaska State Fair invite the public to submit nominations for the twenty-second annual “Farm Family of the Year” award, to be presented at the 2021 Alaska State Fair.
The “Farm Family of the Year” award was established in 2000 by the Division of Agriculture and the Alaska State Fair with the intent to honor an Alaska farm family that best epitomizes the spirit of the agriculture industry for the year and to show appreciation for hard-working Alaskans committed to agriculture and mariculture. Nominations will be accepted through July 15, and can be submitted at online

Welcome back to Meghan’s Corner!

Hi all! I hope the 2021 market season is going well!
We know this is a busy time of year for everyone and want to remind you that we’re here to support you. If you need resources or want to make changes to your directory listing, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
I also want to get everyone excited about National Farmers Market Week, coming up on August 1-7.

We have some really cool social media templates from the Farmers Market Coalition that you can use for your market, and we may even do a photo contest on our Facebook and Instagram pages–more details to come!

If you haven’t had a chance to complete your 2021 Market Listing Update Survey, it’s okay! Don’t fret–you can still complete the survey and we will add you to our online market directory. Our goal is to have a space where customers can find the most up to date information on your market and have a great experience shopping with you, so we will continue to update the website as new information comes in. If you’ve completed your survey but need to make a change, email me at

We wish you the best of luck and success during this 2021 season!

The Farmers Market Directory you know and love, now with CSA and Farm Stands!
We've expanded our directory to include CSA and Farm Stand information, creating the most robust statewide agriculture directory out there today! We want Alaskans to know all of their options for purchasing fresh, local, delicious foods, direct from the source. We will be rolling out a new survey for CSA and Farm Stands specifically to keep listings updated, but compiled what we could for this season.

Special thanks to Edible Alaska, The Matanuska Experiment Farm & Extension Center, and the Division of Agriculture for their existing lists we pulled inspiration from!
