Design, Decoded.

Welcome to another installment of Stylexicon, Design/Decoded. It has been immensely rewarding to see so many of you subscribe to this little passion project of mine—I'm truly honored. A few of you have emailed to let me know how much you love it, and that is just the icing on the cake.

The talented duo for this week's Designer Spotlight needs no introduction. I have been long-time admirers of the cool, clean, modern, and quintessentially California style of interior designers Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl, co-founders of Studio Life.Style. I featured a few of their stunning tours on MyDomaine (styled by my dear friend Brady Tolbert)—this one made my heart skip a beat. If you love their minimal, neutral, textural style as much as I do then you'll want to bookmark their online store—scroll down to shop some of my favorite finds from as little as $25.

After a bunch of you DM'd me, I'm also bringing back the "5 Budget Finds" section this week. I scoured the web and sourced some seriously chic pieces for under $100—you're welcome! As always, if you have someone you'd like me to feature, a new Instagram account, brand or designer I should be aware of, please email me:

  • I'm in the process of upgrading my home office so I thought to share a few of my favorite office décor pieces on Create & Cultivate—these are all insanely chic and under $100.
  • Byron Bay is a vibe and so many of the homes there reflect the laid-back, beachy lifestyle of the Coastal hot spot. But this one feels like it could just as easily be found on the sandy shores of Sydney with its modern, clean, layered neutral approach to design

  • I want to live in this living room! It's the epitome of indoor/outdoor living with greenery, loads of natural light, and an open-plan design that gives you full-frontal access to views of the garden outside. We can only imagine afternoon naps here with a cool breeze on a hot summer's day. Congrats, Amber Interiors!
  • BRB... I'm off to buy this delightfully rustic and modern B&B in the South of France. Who's coming with me?
  • Not design related per se but if you've ever wondered about my career trajectory then this story I wrote details a little about my journey with a few tips on how to land your dream job too.

Tell us a little about yourself and your business?
We are a multifaceted residential and commercial interior design company based in West Hollywood. We take a holistic approach to each project, immersing ourselves completely and aiming to bring authenticity to the space. Shannon launched Studio LIFE/STYLE by doing independent styling and home décor. Brittany has always been interested in art and drawing and knew that she wanted to pursue something creative. We love it because every day is different and we are constantly learning. We also love our clients and vendors.

What motivates you to keep going?
We love to see the before and after’s, seeing our clients happy and working with our lovely vendors.

What holds you back from pursuing your dreams? How are you working on changing that?
Manpower, not having enough hours in the day and wanting to do too much too fast. We are working on being better at delegating.

Favorite piece in your house and why?
Shannon: An Alexander Calder print that our in-laws gave us.
Brittany: A vintage kilim rug from Turkey that my mom gave me.

Favorite place in your house and why?
Shannon: My kitchen because that is where everyone gathers.
Brittany: Living room because it’s cozy and has great light.

What does your home say about you?
Shannon: Free-flowing and minimal, yet lived-in and cozy.
Brittany: Organized and clean.

What do you think about when decorating and why?
We think about the space holistically and how it is supposed to function.

Favorite place to travel for furniture/design?
San Miguel, MX—there are tons of artisans and unique items, with an array of stunning colors and it’s off the beaten path. We also have upcoming trips to Paris and Stockholm.

What is your design motto/mantra/philosophy?
We take a thoughtful, unique approach to each client we work with, each space we design. We engage in every detail from conception to completion. Bringing our experience, resources and distinctive point of view. We realize the client's vision through partnership and a focused process. we collaborate with our clients through mood boards, renderings, floor plan development, and architectural details.

What's the one piece that got away that you still think about?
We fell in love with a vintage rug we had for a client. It was there for a week and looked picture-perfect but they decided not to keep it due to the price point.

The Sunday Pot is only $25 and it's the perfect amount of patina and texture.
This Glass Vase with Ash Base looks chic with flowers or a candle.
I've looked at this Leather-Wrapped Vase for a while. It's just the right tan tone and I love the lace-up detail on the side.
I'm always on the hunt for new tea towels and this Shapes Tea Towel in Grey tick the chic and functional boxes.
I have this Echasse Green Floor Vase in my apartment with tall pampas grass spilling out of it. It's worth every penny.

1. Zara Home is having a major sale with up to 50% off right now and this basket really caught my eye. But their new collection also dropped and if you have a little more $$ to spare, this chair is a stunner.

2. I've been looking for short latte glasses after being influenced by Christie's post on her @nycbambi apartment IGS archive. I found this classic Picardie glassware on Williams-Sonoma and they're currently on sale at just $10 for a set of 6—they have a promotion right now where you get 20% off your order with the code "FRIENDS." Go!

3. I spotted this gold candle holder in a feature of Alison Rice's chic Sydney apartment for the Aussie bedding brand, Bed Threads. She kindly revealed on her IG stories that it was from IKEA and it's only $15!

4. My house is so minimal and neutral so we added the large scale abstract painting by Holly Addi to inject some color but I'm going to buy these coasters too for our marble coffee tables because I love a pop of verdigris.

5. I am really obsessed with green marble right now so when I was scrolling through West Elm's sale items (they have up to 40% off right now) I stumbled upon this green marble vanity box and matching tray. I think these would be a welcome addition to my home office. What do you think?
