Acknowledging the past as we look forward to the future

By Amy Kirkham

As we come to the end (of this part at least) of restrictions and ever changing requirements due to the Covid19 pandemic, we pause and look back—to acknowledge the events, challenges and achievements of the past two years—as we also look forward to 2022.

SMTC, along with many other Training Centres, with the approval of AMI, adapted courses with a mixture of synchronous (face-to-face online mainly through Zoom) and asynchronous (do it in your own time within a certain time frame) learning...

What is the difference between being a leader and a manager?

By Bill Conway

The words leadership and management are not opposites, nor do they express the same thing. Some of you may identify more with one of the words, such as seeing your role managing a group of students or an entire school. You may also see your role leading your students or a school. In this short article we’re going to consider both and see if we recognise our own style or leadership or management.

Trainer in Training: Emma Elegado-Kotulic

When and with which trainer did you do your original 0-3 training?

Book recommendation: Montessori for Every Family

This beautiful, modern book outlines the key principles that underpin the approach and makes applying them immediate and practical for every family. You can follow pragmatic, real-life advice, relevant for children of all ages, and discover how easy and natural it is to create a nourishing environment, instil family values, encourage positive communication, and enjoy a home life that is empowering for everyone.

More about the book

An ordinary teacher cannot be transformed into a Montessori teacher, but must be created anew, having rid herself of pedagogical prejudices. The first step is self-preparation of the imagination, for the Montessori teacher has to visualise a child who is not yet there, materially speaking, and must have faith in the child who will reveal himself through work.
