Welcoming ARTNeT's new institutional member: 
Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID)

ARTNeT Secretariat welcomes its 75th institutional member, Institute for Studies in Industrial Development (ISID), India. Over the three decades of ISID's existence, the Institute has developed into a multi-faceted national level policy research institution by focusing upon on different aspects of India’s industrial development such as corporate sector, investment, trade, technology, labour and employment. Public health and media studies and creation of research infrastructure including databases on industrial sector are its other main focus areas. ARTNeT Secretariat looks forward to the future collaboration in trade research and training with ISID!

Tariff liberalization in the RCEP trade agreement and impact on India's automobile industry: An applied general equilibrium analysis (AWP183)
Adequate attention has not been paid by researchers towards general equilibrium effects of trade liberalization particularly involving trade in global value chains (GVC) goods, in spite of its emergence being an established phenomenon among Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) members including India. This paper contributes in that aspect by undertaking a Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) simulation utilizing the GTAP 9 database updated to 2015, augmenting it to study the automobile sector of trade in GVC goods in the Indian context.

Regional Workshop on Graduation for Least Developed Countries in Asia
30 April - 2 May 2019; Bangkok
The ESCAP and the WTO are organizing a workshop to improve the knowledge and understanding of the participants of the implications of LDC graduation and build their capacity to address the challenges arising from the loss of LDC-specific benefits. The workshop will provide participants the opportunity to learn about the graduation process and examine its likely impact on their participation in the WTO, as well as preferential trade. More...
75th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia-Pacific
27-31 May 2019; Bangkok

The session will comprise a ministerial segment, which will be held from 27 to 28 May, and a senior officials segment, from 29 to 31 May. The Special Body on Least Developed, Landlocked Developing and Pacific Island Developing Countries will be held on 28 May. A number of special and side events will also be held during the session. Additional information on these events and other relevant information will be uploaded to this website in due course; please monitor this website for updates.

Trade Intelligence and Negotiation Advisor (TINA)
The Trade Intelligence and Negotiation Advisor (TINA), an automated online platform that is designed to assist, particularly developing and least developed countries, with often complex trade negotiations. The platform serves as single repository of trade data drawn from a variety of sources including those produced by ESCAP. Future extensions of TINA may include legal provisions, non-tariff information, product-level estimates of trade mis-invoicing and resultant tax revenue losses, and the impact of LDC graduation and quantifying impact of tariff reductions.
Call for Papers on Economic Integration in Asia and Europe: Lessons and Recommended Policies at ADBI (Deadline: 30 May 2019)
Journal of Economic Integration will publish a special issue on Economic Integration in Asia and Europe in cooperation with our partner, the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI). The special issue will analyze the processes of economic integration and their impact on, and risks posed to, economic growth in Asia and Europe. The objective is to provide lessons learned in Europe and Asia, and recommend policies for the rest of the world. For more information about the call please visit here
