A MESSAGE FROM
DELEGATE SCOTT

It's been a busy couple of weeks here in Richmond!  Its an honor to serve you in the General Assembly.

We've already made history -- for the first time in Virginia's 400 years of legislating, we have our first woman Speaker of the House, first African-American (and first woman!) as President Pro Tempore of the Senate, and our first woman Clerk and Keeper of the Rolls!  I'm also part of the most diverse freshman class in Virginia's history.

I've been assigned to three committees:  Courts of Justice; Finance; and Communications, Technology, and Innovation.  I've also introduced legislation focusing on alleviating the burden of tolls for our teachers and first-responders, terminating the ERC toll contract, and criminal justice reform.  Be sure you're following us on Facebook (@friendsofdonscott) and Twitter (@donscott757) for updates.  My staff stands ready to assist you and answer any questions.  Contact information is at the end of this email.

Forward Together,
Delegate Don L. Scott, Jr.

On January 15th, I joined 58 of my fellow Delegates in voting YES for HJ1, brought by Delegate Carroll-Foy, for Virginia to become the 38th and final state to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.  HJ1 now goes to the Senate!

FROM AROUND THE CAPITOL

I had a productive meeting with representatives from Virginia REALTORS©.  It was great to catch up and hear from them.
It was great to welcome members from Portsmouth Professional Firefighters (IAFF Local 539) last week.  Our community is grateful for their service.
It was a pleasure to welcome the young men from the Beta Lambda Chapter of Boulé Young Scholars program on January 15th.    Our world is brighter knowing these high-schoolers are leading the next generation.
On January 11th, I welcomed family, friends, and supporters to be a part of my Swearing-In Ceremony.  It was a long road to get here, and I'm so grateful to everyone who joined us in Richmond that day.
