Nova Scotia Forest Festival - October 26th

The Nova Scotia Forest Festival is a showcase of the many ways Nova Scotians connect to the Province’s forests for their livelihood, housing, recreation, food, and heritage. From visiting "Creatures of the Night" to learning to throw an axe or paddle a canoe, come and enjoy an array of activities in the fresh fall air!

There are so many different activities happening! From guided nature walks with a Mi’kmaq interpreter and a naturalist to a vintage chainsaw display and demonstrations of the Heritage Village’s woodworking equipment, shingle mill and steam-box. Lots of things to taste as well, including marshmallows, maple syrup and fried bread dough (on the wood stove).

Take a peek at the festival schedule and plan your day! Help us reduce waste and keep our forests green by downloading a copy of the schedule onto your mobile device, if possible, instead of printing it!

Leading the Charge!

Our brand new solar panel array is up and generating! Click Here to check out how much energy we are generating, in real time.

This means Memory Lane Heritage Village is now the first 100% solar-powered museum in Nova Scotia (and possibly Canada). We will be tracking our energy production over the coming months and years and plan to continue to work to minimize our environmental footprint wherever possible.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our community and all of the donors and panel sponsors who have helped make this campaign a success. The Lake Charlotte Area Heritage Society would also like to recognize the support of Province of Nova Scotia in assisting with our goal to become the first 100% solar-powered museum in Nova Scotia.
We are pleased to work in partnership with the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage to develop and promote our cultural resources for all Nova Scotians.

Stay tuned for a solar powered open house this fall!
