Kia ora and welcome to a new school year at Ngaruawahia High School. During the first two weeks of school we will welcome our new principal Rebecca Hodgson, and new students to our kura. Waka Roopu (hub) teachers will be contacting seniors' whaanau during the first week and juniors during the second week to meet and complete their subject selections.
Here is all the information you will need to know regarding the start of the year which we call POET week. The Y12/13 students will start on Tuesday, 31st Jan to prepare themselves to lead the Y9/10 students in week 2. Please note that there are consent forms specific to their waka roopu that will need to be filled out and returned to the school office by 7th Feb (Tuesday). The Y9,10,12 & 13's will be involved in one program and the Y11's will be separate.

POET - WEEK 1 (Senior Leadership) 31st Jan - (Tuesday) Years 12 & 13 Meet in the Library at 8.45am in mufti. Your activities will be based at school and students will be finished by 2pm. Lunch will be provided. 1st Feb - (Wednesday) Years 12 & 13 Meet in the new carpark by the caretaker's shed (opposite George St) at 8.45am. Your activities will be based at either Raglan or Waihi and students will return by 2.30pm. Wear mufti and bring a drink bottle, togs, towel and shoes. Lunch will be provided. 2nd Feb - (Thursday) Years 12 & 13 Meet in the hall at 8.45am. We will be welcoming in our new Principal Rebecca Hodgson with a Poowhiri at 10am. Whaanau are welcome to attend. Students will be finished by 12pm. Please come dressed in your number ones. Lunch will be provided. 3rd Feb - (Friday) Years 12 & 13 Meet in the Library at 8.45am in mufti. Your activities will be based at school and students will be finished by 12pm. Lunch will be provided. Head students and Waka Captains will meet from 12.00-1.30pm with Whaea Eliza in the English classroom. Your activity will take place at the Karangahake Gorge & students will be back by 2.30pm. 9th Feb - (Thursday) Years 9, 10, 12 & 13 Meet at school 8.45am in your waka areas. Wear mufti and bring a drink bottle, togs, towel and shoes. Lunch will be provided. Your activity will take place on school grounds. Students are free to depart from school at 12pm and bus students can remain at school where they will be supervised. Year 11 Meet at school 8.45am in your waka areas. Wear mufti and bring a drink bottle, togs, towel and shoes. Lunch will be provided. Your activity will take place at Lake Puketirini and students will be finished by 12pm. Students will finish at 12pm and bus students can return to school where they will be supervised. 10th Feb - (Friday) Athletics Day Whole School Meet at school 8.45am in your waka areas. Wear waka colours and bring a drink bottle. Lunch will be provided. This is our Athletics day and students will be finished by 2.30pm. Normal classes will begin on Monday 13 February. |
