Lent is a season of reflection – this often takes us from our comfortable places and causes us to enter more deeply into the places inside ourselves that we usually just ignore.  Traditionally this has been done through fasting, prayer and “giving of alms” (helping out people in need).  These days people often choose to give up something – it might be something they enjoy, or it might be something they feel hinders them in some way. Probably the thing that hinders most people is fear – and this is what we propose giving up for Lent.
Happily, we have an entire Adventure Park which enables people to face their fear - a gentle nudge off the King Swing platform or a ride on a quad bike up the Waterfall Challenge really leaves people with a sense of what they are capable of.  Doing something you didn’t think you could can free you up to take bold steps in other parts of your life too.

Granted, not everyone subscribes to the “giving something up” idea, so luckily we have opportunities for them too!  We put it to you that there is as much to be gained by taking something up – doing something new that expands you and enables you to experience yourself on a deeper level.  Endurance events, and the preparation they require, are great for this.  This year we have 2 awesome events planned – Ridetheberg taking place 23-24 May and Runtheberg taking place 19-20 September
We are incredibly blessed in South Africa to have so many opportunities to contribute to others.  Helping people go beyond themselves is something we are committed to at All Out Adventures.  This gets expressed in many ways - through giving our clients opportunities to overcome their fears, on going staff development, and in our wider community through our support of rural education initiatives.  We have been privileged to be associated with Royal Drakensberg Primary School since its founding in 2007.  Royal Drakensberg Primary is a beacon of possibility in an area where opportunities for quality education are few and far between.
So maybe this Lent if you aren’t planning to give anything up, or undertake a big great self development mission, there’s always the opportunity to give a child a hand up by supporting a great educational initiative.
We look forward to seeing you in the Easter Holidays
