"Congress must follow the lead of New York and California who are actively working to ensure a safe, fair, and affordable small business lending market,” said Rep. Nydia Velazquez, Chair of the Commiteee.

NYS CDFI called on to testify before the US House Committee on Small Business

The NYS CDFI Coalition was a key advocate for the NYS Small Business Truth in Lending Act, which will bring common-sense transparency standards to small business financing at a time when it’s needed most. The measure passed both houses of the New York State Legislature in July, and the Coalition is calling on members and supporters across the state to urge Governor Cuomo to sign it into law.

That's why we were pleased to see a Federal version of the bill introduced this summer by Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez. We were honored that a member of the NYS CDFI Coalition board, Yanki Tshering, was invited to testify on the importance of transparency in small business lending.
