Dear Living Faith Uniting Church Family and Friends
"Now Peter and John were going up to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour." Acts 3:1
The Western Wall, or "Wailing Wall" as it was previously called, is a significant location of the temple in Jerusalem. Jews have utilised this sacred wall for prayer since the 16th century. It is a vital part of any pilgrimage to Israel and holds thousands of little written paper prayers in its crevices. If you look closely at the picture above, you can see the white papers that have been pressed into the wall over the years. Our church name is planted somewhere in there too.
People come from across the world to "cry" or "pour out their hearts" to God in prayer at this special place. We read in the Bible verse above that the disciples, Peter and John, attended the temple for a traditional hour of prayer. In this same spirit, we have organised a 24 Hour Prayer Vigil from Saturday 31 October - Sunday 1 November where we are all invited to lock in an hour with God. The event will culminate in a special service of prayer at our Sunday morning service. Details on signing up can be found below in this newsletter. Let us join as a family in a chorus of prayer to our Lord.
I will leave you with this question - where is the special place where you like to pray? Is it a comfortable chair, a garden bench, a specific room? It's good to have our own personal "Western Wall".

MY SHORT STORY
Submitted by Graham Leslie
I am as happy as a bird on a perch
Because I can now attend Living Faith Uniting Church
Every day as I awake, I say
"Thank you Lord for another day"
I look at the life I've had,
Thanking the Lord for making me a dad
The best thing I ever did in my life
Was marrying my lovely wife
Through love, sickness, health and tears
We were married for 48,5 years.
