Dear Living Faith Uniting Church Family and Friends
"After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him." John 13:5
The ancient basin depicted above is a reminder of the significance of water in the Scriptures. One pertinent moment when water changed the landscape of life forever, was the time that Jesus used water to wash his disciples' feet. This humble act by our Master, displays the way we are called to live - firstly as servants of our King, and then as servants to those God calls us to assist.
We sometimes come unstuck when we are serving in a capacity we are not called to serve in. The stress or anxiety that can ensue can be life-draining rather than life-giving. During these times, it is wise to evaluate where we are expending energy. At the same time, humble acts of service offered in kindness and generosity, just as Jesus did for His disciples, draw us closer to the true heart of who God is. No act of kindness is ever wasted in God's Kingdom. On that note, I want to thank everyone for each part that you play in assisting our church to remain open and functioning during these interesting times. Thank you for "washing each other's feet" as we meet and serve each Sunday and during the week.
Please remember to register online or on paper (at the auditorium entrance) if you intend coming to either the Christmas eve or Christmas day service. Details are below in this newsletter.
Please also find included in this newsletter an important letter from our Church Council Chairman.
We are excited to be able to share in Holy Communion again this coming Sunday. Come expectantly as we enter into Jesus' healing presence.

LETTER FROM CHAIRMAN OF CHURCH COUNCIL
Good morning Living Faith members and friends
It is great that the general and border crossing restrictions have been eased. Praise God. However, COVID has not gone away. COVID ‘flare ups’ can occur at any time.
One particularly pertinent easing which is relevant to Living Faith is that extended families and those who have travelled in the same vehicle to church can now to sit together in church.
You may not be aware that the UCA Synod has taken the lead in negotiations with Queensland Health and enjoys a good reputation with them. This relationship has facilitated further easing in restrictions relevant to Places of Worship. However, the Chief Health Officer would not hesitate in tightening restrictions if compliance is poor.
Let’s help keep everyone (ourselves, our families and those we encounter) safe, maintain our good reputation, and practice what Jesus commanded “Love thy neighbour”. How do we do this?
As individuals, we need to practice the essentials:
Maintain physical distancing of 1.5 metres.
Maintain good hand hygiene (washing hands and using alcohol-based sanitiser).
Maintain good respiratory hygiene (coughing or sneezing into elbow).
As a church, we need to continue:
Rigorously maintaining attendance records for services and groups meeting at the church.
COVID clean our spaces after every use.
Finally, continue to pray for our families, our church, our state and our nation for good leadership with regards COVID in particular and righteousness in general.
Regards Scott Bell
Church Council Chairman
