Dear Living Faith Uniting Church Family and Friends
"Be still, and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10
During some hectic days of hustling and bustling around Israel, there came an opportunity to leave the tour group and crowds. I discovered this rock which was hidden way from the main road and felt drawn to its position of solitude. I sat there for a precious hour overlooking an area of Jerusalem. I remember sensing the Holy Spirit with me in the "silence". It is a therapeutic process to lay down our own backpack of burdens and just be still.
I cannot remember the exact words that I prayed as I sat on this rock. But I do remember praying about the future direction of my life and our church. That was a year ago now and here we are in the "future". God is faithfully sustaining us through another tricky year. Things could have been different had we not prayed. A wise friend recently said to me that the reason things move forward even when we cannot perceive it, or when the circumstances are difficult, is because we fast and pray.
In this vein, I am delighted to announce that our church will be hosting a 24 Prayer Vigil. We will invite you to sign up for a one-hour time slot to re-discover God's direction and wisdom for our future. The Vigil will run from 31 October 10am - 1 November 10am. Your hour can be spent in your home, perhaps in a spot in nature or any place where you feel comfortable, at a time that is convenient for you. We believe by faith that God is going to move as we petition Him for ourselves and our church. More information on how to sign up and participate in this exciting event is below in this newsletter.
It has been a joy to welcome new faces to our services on Sundays. We are delighted to see visitors, friends and members join together in worship. Talking of members, if you would like to join our church family or transfer your membership from a different church, we would love to chat to you about the process. We are also offering a free Foundations to Christianity course online for anyone new to the church or for those seeking to learn about the foundations of our faith. Please see a brief outline in this newsletter on how to participate in the course.
Please note that the start time for church is 9am for the remainder of this year. This will be reviewed in the new year. Feel free to arrive 10 minutes earlier to enjoy live worship music which helps us social distance before the service officially starts at 9am.
You are all so special to me!
