MINISTER'S MESSAGE
GREETINGS FROM REV IRIS

Dear Living Faith Uniting Church Family and Friends

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will send you out to fish for people."
Mark 1:17 NIV

This morning a song came to me that I used to sing as a teenager at church. The composer is Roy Turner, perhaps you remember it; "All over the world, the Spirit is moving; All over the world there's a mighty revelation; Of the Glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea..." As we gain spiritual awareness of what is happening globally, we can either be overcome with fright, or we can see the many places and ways that God's Spirit is moving and revealing Himself in our times.

We are called to be "fishers of people" whether we attend church in a building or whether we "attend" church online. There are so many open doors of opportunity for us to reach out far and wide with the Gospel. One way is to please keep sending the weekly sermon links onto friends and family.

I received a phone call last week from one of my mentors who posed this question to me, and I now pose it to you for consideration, "If you knew two years ago that this pandemic was coming, what would the church have done to prepare for it?" Therein lies some of the answers as to how we as a church could respond to a world in need right now, and in the future.

Toowong Uniting Church have also contacted me and would like to have a joint online Prayer Meeting with Living Faith Uniting Church. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to connect with the Toowong folk who have previously supported our church in prayer. I would love as many of us as possible to join in the meeting on Sunday 24 May at 7pm from the comfort of your own home! I will be emailing out instructions on how to connect to the online prayer meeting in the coming days. However, if you need additional support, please let me know and I will arrange assistance for you. Let's get on board and start a mighty wave of prayer with our Christian brothers and sisters!

The fish in the photo above dwell in an aquarium in Eliat, Israel. Let us focus on making our dwelling place in the presence of our Lord. May we keep fishing for the lost and invite them to join in God's dwelling place too!

Your friend,
Iris

ZOOM ONLINE PRAYER MEETING WITH TOOWONG UNITING CHURCH
Toowong Uniting Church have invited Living Faith Uniting Church to join them in an online Prayer Meeting. Toowong UC visited our church last year for a night of prayer and we would love the opportunity to share our faith journey with each other again. Full details to the  meeting will be emailed out in the coming days. In the meantime, please mark this information in your diary:

Date: Sunday 24 May 2020

Time: 7pm - 8pm

I look forward to "seeing" you there!
GIVING ONLINE
It is timely to thank all of you who have transitioned to online giving for your tithes and offerings to Living Faith. The giving of the church has held up strongly which is especially important given the cessation of income from hall rentals due to COVID-19. Using online banking can be scary if you have not done it before, so thank you for being up to the challenge.

For those without access to the internet and online banking, Synod has provided an option for ‘giving’ by debiting people’s cards and then transferring the funds to Living Faith. This can be done by a phone call or an emailed instruction to Synod. Anyone who has need of this service should contact Scott Bell on Mobile 0401 717 028 or home 3207 5115 (and leave a message). He will arrange for you to receive instructions.

It is emphasised that online banking is the preferred option for tithes and offerings. Synod has reduced their number of staff in response to COVID-19. This service is an extra on the remaining staff.

Living Faith Church community is extremely grateful for your faithful giving.
