Important Announcement about curling in Toronto

A few days ago, we received the City of Toronto’s Parks and Forestry Master Plan that will be submitted to The City Executive Committee this Wednesday October 23, and then it goes to City Council for approval on October 29th.

The good news is the report recognizes the changing landscape relative to curling and have stated 'Strategies for accomodating additional curling facilities, particularly in Etobicoke York, are recommended''.The bad news is that Parks & Rec has recommended at this time that "no new facilties be built" This recommendation is not consistent with their own report.

We will be sending a delegation to speak and need as many people as possible to be there in support.
9:30 am Wednesday, Oct 23 City Hall Committee Rm 1, and possibly October 29th.

We plan to attend the Executive Committee Meeting in Toronto on October 23rd to communicate our displeasure and ask them not to go forward with the plan without more emphasis on new curling facilities in Toronto west.  We also want our concerns communicated to council and hope to do so on October 29th.

We need your help.  The direction of this plan will influence Parks, Forestry and Recreational Capital and Budgetary decisions. Help us by either showing up on the 23rd and 29th or send in a letter of support.  The more tax paying citizens they hear from- the more likely they are going to adjust their commitment to the sport we all love. Remember we elect city councillors. They should be working on our behalf.
