UNICC New Services
UNICC’s mission is to provide trusted, shared services and digital business solutions to the UN family. In its 109th Management Committee meeting, held in April 2021, UNICC presented for approval a new suite of services to meet the needs of its over 80 Clients and Partner Organizations.
New and approved services include cloud broker services as well as a suite of cybersecurity assessment services and UNICC's revamped organizational resilience service. The new cybersecurity services will serve to better support the system in meeting the Joint Inspection Unit recommendations on cybersecurity and improve the overall cybersecurity posture of the UN family.

Gender Parity Commitments
UNICC has achieved its two objectives for 2021 for improving gender parity within UNICC: to have a fair representation of at least 30% of women among UNICC Directors and to have more than 30% women in all recruitment panels at UNICC, excluding human resources representatives.
After fulfilling these 2021 goals, the organization has set new ambitious objectives for 2022: to appoint a Gender and Inclusion Champion within each of the four UNICC divisions and to publish and implement a gender parity strategy. UNICC's long-term goal, to which all the yearly objectives contribute, is to achieve full gender parity within the organization by 2028.

UNICC's Common UN PKI service makes online communication more secure for UN Agencies who subscribe to the service.

UNICC COP26 ID Check App Supports UN Climate Change Conference
UNFCCC and UNICC developed an app for the identity verification of around 30,000 participants of the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 that took place in Glasgow, Scotland, from 31 October to 12 November 2021. The COP26 ID Check app harnesses emerging technologies such as biometrics for a secure and efficient identity validation process.

AI Powers UNDP’s Evaluation Solutions
In partnership with UNICC and Amazon Web Services, UNDP’s latest cutting-edge solution streamlines the scanning of thousands of evaluation documents to understand keywords, context and intent using artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, returning meaningful answers to complex questions. AIDA uses AI and machine learning for quick and easy access to the digital treasure trove of evaluations stored in UNDP’s Evaluation Resource Centre.

Innovation and New Technologies for Intellectual Property Systems
Tima Soni, Chief, Cybersecurity Division at UNICC, welcomed WIPO Director-General Daren Tang on 12 February 2022 to UNICC’s offices in Valencia, Spain. UNICC has been providing services to WIPO for nearly 50 years; now, culminating in this visit, the two organizations are exploring new ways to strengthen this long-lasting and mutually beneficial relationship.

Small Island States Meet Virtually on Climate Change with UNICC Services
The Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS), a group that represents the interests of 39 small island and coastal developing states in international negotiations and processes, met last summer virtually with the support of UNICC’s conference management services team, who delivered a comprehensive solution of integrated platforms, from a registration mechanism and virtual venue homepage to meeting rooms.

SAP ERP Support Grows to Include Umoja
UN’s Umoja is improving financial and administrative operations and program delivery with the potential to improve the efficiency and overall effectiveness of the organization. UNICC has been a long-time provider of SAP ERP hosting services for WFP as well as several other Agencies, including CTBTO, UNJSPF and more recently UNRWA. Now UN’s Umoja ERP Joins UNICC’s SAP Support and Hosting Services.

IPPC ePhyto Solution, Four Years In
The International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat, with continuous support and expertise from UNICC, has developed an ePhyto solution for secure and efficient plant trade. Four years underway, this solution now allows 62 countries to exchange electronic phytosanitary certificates quickly, accurately and at low cost. The IPPC-UNICC ePhyto solution demonstrates a successful global digital transformation for international plant trade.

Over 40 Partners gathered on 6 and 7 April 2022 in Geneva, New York and online for UNICC's Management Committee meeting. UNICC Partner Organizations approved a new suite of cybersecurity services as well as cloud broker services and UNICC's revamped organizational resilience services, also discussing a UN system private cloud concept and UNICC growing data and analytics services.

UNICC Women Celebrate IWD 2022 by Sharing Their Experiences with Students
To celebrate International Women’s Day 2022, UNICC was invited to give talks in several high schools in Valencia, Spain, together with colleagues from other UN Agencies including UNICEF, UNICTF and UNOPS, with the goal to encourage more girls and young women to pursue careers in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

UNICC Hosts Break Through Tech Students
From 5 to 21 January 2022, UNICC hosted for the fourth consecutive year Break Through Tech ‘Sprinterns,’ students from City University of New York who worked virtually with a variety of UNICC teams to learn about UNICC services and projects. During their three-week stay, Sprinterns worked on three group projects in the areas of cybersecurity, project management and data visualization.

International Girls in ICT Day
International Girls in ICT Day supports the creation of a global setting for empowering and encouraging girls and young women to consider careers in STEM. On 27 April 2022, ITU, the UN Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, the NYC Mayor’s Office for International Affairs and UNICC celebrated this international day with an event that brought together over 70 girls and women.

Director and Chief BRM at 'Wake Up, Spain!'
