Making Riverside a better place to live
by making it a better place for nature.

The monthly e-bulletin from Riverside Naturally
January 2021

Riverside ARK launched
You may have seen a new noticeby the path that starts between
the two pillars at Riverside Quay.

We have been working with the Stirling Council Fisheries Team to
create the ARK.  In the spring they will be adding more wild flowers
to the patch that was cut in the autumn.

Riverside is now a part of an international network of ARKs.

Spotted in Riverside

This month  we feature a tree creeper that flew into a Riverside window
(it recovered and flew away)
and fungus on the footbridge to Cambuskenneth.

Riverside Naturally Plans for 2021
We are still working on the transformation of the neglected bed
beside the river path into a mini-woodland garden.  There are still new trees to plant and
in the spring you will start to see many new plants pushing through the bark chips.

The Spring Woodland Garden. | Arcadia Garden Design

This year we will make a start on the other bed.
Again, we will retain healthy trees and shrubs and plant some new trees.
We will also plant native woodland plants to provide
colour and interest for people and food and shelter for wildlife.
As with any gardening project, we will have to do some clearance first.
Please be patient as we work to make longer term improvements.

The Big Garden Birdwatch ....

Starling

The RSPB annual garden bird survey takes place at the end of January.
Help this national survey by watching your garden for an hour.
You can choose any hour between 29 and 31 January.
So whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, you can still take part.

The present Covid 19 situation means that Riverside Naturally
