Dear <<First Name>>,
We did it, Evanston! This Tuesday, our City Council voted "yes" on housing affordability, accessibility, and racial equity by passing an ordinance to expand accessory dwelling unit (ADU) options.
Though we are excited to see forward momentum, this is only the start for EDC.
As we start building energy-efficient ADUs across Evanston in late 2020 and early 2021, we will make meaningful progress towards our vision for a 21st century economy. The extractive economy of past centuries has created an unsustainable status quo of a changing climate, systemic racism, and income inequality, and we must learn from the mistakes of the past to build a livable future.
As the only certified member of the U.S. Federation of Worker Cooperatives in Evanston, EDC aspires to lead the transition towards local cooperative businesses that value our residents and workers' well-being over corporate bottom lines.
We are launching a GoFundMe campaign to advance EDC's work. This campaign will sustain and propel our vision for healthy homes, an anti-racist zoning code, and a just local economy of cooperative businesses.
We hope you will support us, and that you will share this campaign far and wide. With your help, we can all play a role in working towards an Evanston that values what matters most-- people.
