This February, the Daily Northwestern hosted a mayoral forum on Evanston’s inclusionary housing ordinance, mixed-income housing, impending evictions, and accessory dwelling units (ADUs).

This story from the New York Times describes how ADUs have become a solution for multigenerational living.

Efficiency Homes Ordinance

A zoning ordinance to allow small “efficiency homes” should go to City Council in the near future, after being introduced during a February City Council meeting.

Our cooperative believes that this housing policy is one tangible way to shift Evanston away from an exclusionary zoning code which has historically segregated by race and class. To learn more, you can read this packet published by the City of Evanston.
