Introducing the Research Lifecycle

After consultation with faculty and research administration professionals across campus, UF Research today launches a new Research Lifecycle web environment designed to help all users – principal investigators, research administrators, study coordinators and other staff – easily navigate to the information they need most at any stage of a project.
The web environment is designed around a continuous research lifecycle that begins with finding funding and ends with closing out an award, then begins anew. Underlying all stages of the lifecycle are a commitment to research integrity and compliance.
“We listened carefully to our users and designed this site to be as intuitive as possible,” said Stephanie Gray, assistant vice president and director of the Division of Sponsored Programs. “Instead of organizing around our traditional office functions, we organized everything around the natural lifecycle of a project.”
The Research Lifecycle grew out of a Research Administration Portal that has been hosted by UF’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute for the last few years. Most elements of the RA Portal have been incorporated into the campuswide Research Lifecycle pages, so the RA Portal will be retired.
“UF Research is committed to serving the campus research community with the most effective tools available,” said Vice President for Research David Norton. “Over the past few years we have introduced tools like UFIRST and OneUF designed to streamline management of grants and allow faculty to focus on their science. This new Research Lifecycle web environment is another tool in the box.”
Although most existing bookmarks will redirect to the equivalent pages in the Research Lifecycle environment, users are encouraged to create new bookmarks as they become familiar with the new navigation.
