"The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.” Psalm 103:8
Rally Sunday, this Sunday, September 13
While we can't share food this year, please come and share fellowship outside. To celebrate Rally Sunday, the Sunday School program is offering a scavenger hunt for all ages. Jeff Yardis will be filming video clips in the garden. You are invited to be filmed sharing your 1 minute message for a prospective member of our church. Please think of a few words you would say to someone researching our church  through our website, and Jeff will compile the clips into a short video.  Many voices make a good video.
Sunday School Starting this Sunday!
Our Sunday School year starts on Sunday!  We will be doing a short lesson and a Scavenger Hunt on September 13th.  We are opening up our Scavenger Hunt to any adults that would like to partake. We have 7 Clues and 7 Puzzles to solve throughout the church grounds.  We will have teams of 2 or more scheduled every half hour beginning at 11:30AM. If you want to take part, please email Johanna.
Families and students, please check your email!  We are sending out registration forms that are necessary for any publicity that we may place as a church along with information about our classes. We can't wait to see everyone again!

Indoor Worship begins October 4
Thank you to everyone who responded to the Worship Survey. Plans are underway to begin worshiping in the sanctuary on Sunday, October 4. The live streaming project is on the back burner for now. If you can't worship in person, please look for the videotape of the service on YouTube on Sunday afternoons. To help with planning, Kim will be sending out another questionnaire through Survey Monkey on Tuesday, September 15th. Please let us know whether or not you will be joining us in person for the first indoor worship service.  The Deacons are meeting on Sunday, September 20th to plan for indoor worship.
Church Missions and Opportunities

Martha Deegan is a Freedom Guide Dog puppy raiser and a devoted supporter of Freedom Guide Dogs. It was our intention to direct a recent gift to the organization Martha loves. However, we made a mistake and directed the gift to Freedom Service Dogs, which is a different organization. We hope for another opportunity to benefit Freedom Guide Dogs in the future. In the meantime, we are pleased to report that our $500 gift to Freedom Service Dogs was matched to bring our total impact to $1,000. Thanks to all who contributed, supported Ella Tessman’s fundraiser, and a special thank you to Ella for stepping out in faith to be of service to others.

Middlesex Habitat for Humanity is building a house in Westbrook and renovating a house in Middlefield.  While we wait to get a date to go help in person, you can help now by donating to Habitat now.  Due to the virus, all work had stopped for volunteers but they are continuing forward through donations.  You can donate online at  We will update you as information becomes available for a date to volunteer.

2020 Natural Disasters   This is an unprecedented time in our country. From the California wildfires to the the tornado that devastated Iowa to the tropical storm/hurricane season already upon us, these natural disasters have affected hundreds of thousands of our fellow citizens and continue to threaten many others. The Mission and Outreach Ministry Council (MOMC) of the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches is making an appeal for funds to replenish “One Great Hour of Sharing” financial resources. Rather than focusing on just one of these natural disasters, the appeal is for general funding with MOMC making the decision on where to allocate the donations among these three disasters and what may happen in the next several weeks. NACCC has a donation site on their website, go to

Thank you to all who are donating non-perishable food items to Amazing Grace Food Pantry. As we are now worshiping in person, please resume the practice of bringing donations to the church each Sunday. We will collect them at the outdoor worship services. If you are unable to attend worship, and would like to make a donation, please feel free to drop off donations during our office hours or contact the church office to make an appointment for drop-off at a time convenient for you.
St. Pauly Clothing Shed:  Please note that our clothing shed is closed for now.  The company was overloaded with inventory and could not keep up with the donations.  We will let you know when it reopens.
