175 Cans of Green Beans for Middletown Families!

Thank you to all those who contributed cans of green beans to this local community project ( Thanksgiving baskets being made for Middletown families).  Due to your generosity, we are surpassing our goal of contributing 100 cans.  Pastor Nancy will deliver our donation tomorrow,  November 13th. The organizers are looking forward to receiving our church's contribution! If they have more than enough, any surplus will be donated to the Amazing Grace Food Pantry in Middletown. Thank you again!

2020 Advent Devotional Booklet Now in the Narthex
The 2020 Advent Devotional is published by the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches. Copies are now available on the tables in the Narthex inside both entries to the sanctuary. November 29 is the first Sunday in Advent. Please pick up a devotional to help you observe Advent with a spiritual practice.

11/18 Bible Study Theme is "Holiness"
The theme of this week's Wednesday morning Bible Study will be Holiness.  Before starting the study, watch this video of the hymn "Holy, Holy, Holy."  Then listen to the audio, watch the video, and read the scripture at the Holiness link above. Time permitting, you may want to end your study with "Just As I Am."   And if you want to go deeper, watch the video on Leviticus .

If you would like to join on Wednesday morning and need the Zoom login information, please let us know.  Meeting reminders are sent on Tuesdays to all regular Bible Study members.

In Person Worship and Video on YouTube
Last week, we welcomed 32 people to our church service and 6 children attended Sunday school, led by 3 teachers.  This Sunday, we will continue our in-person service, and Jeff Yardis will continue to videotape it for us.  The video will be posted to YouTube around 3PM.

Unless or until CT COVID guidelines change, we will continue to offer both in-person and video options for Sunday worship.  We will also maintain all safety protocols related to the virus, which means temporarily foregoing congregational singing and socializing within the sanctuary.  If and when it is no longer advisable to worship in person, we will revert to a video only option.

Thanksgiving Cheer Reminder
Due to the pandemic, the Diaconate will not be hosting our annual Thanksgiving dinner.  We know that some of our church families have endured extra challenges during these unprecedented times.  The Deacons would like to send a little cheer their way to let them know that their church family is thinking of them.

We would like to present gift cards to those church families who are in need.  In order to accomplish this, we need help from our congregation.  The Deacons have set a goal of raising $350.00 to be used to purchase the gift cards.  There will be donation baskets set out again this Sunday.  We will gladly accept cash or checks.  If you would like to mail your check to the church, please indicate on the check that it is for the "Deacon's Gift Cards."  If you are able to support us by making a monetary donation of any amount, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Corrine Sternberg or Ken Joy.

Meeting Reminders Emailed Every Tuesday
Reminders will be sent every Tuesday to members of those committees that are meeting during the upcoming week.  Committee chairs should notify Chris Foley in advance about whether each meeting will be in-person, Zoom or a hybrid of the two (i.e., a Zoom option) and she will write the email reminder accordingly.  Thank you.
