Dear HLC Members,

Our community has been working endlessly to combat and adapt to the spread of COVID-19 and we continue to work with our partners to ensure that the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors are being met.
We are only as healthy as the most vulnerable members of our community. Across Central Oregon, medical staff, service providers, and community members are working together with creativity and compassion to meet the challenges posed by this unprecedented crisis. Now, more than ever, we need collaboration to support all the people of Central Oregon.
We are calling on all of you to continue to follow OHA and CDC guidelines by wearing your mask, washing your hands and maintaining 6ft physical distance. By doing this, you are taking an active role in protecting our vulnerable community members.
These are difficult times, but together we can continue to make an impact.
Thank you for all that you continue to do in our community.

Stay safe.
Colleen Thomas, HLC Co-Chair
Last winter, the Bend Winter Shelter hosted nearly 3500 overnight stays by 327 unique guests who received thousands of meals and a variety of social and medical services. Unfortunately, the previous location is no longer available and Bend once again faces the possibility of a winter without an emergency warming shelter.
We are seeking a location to accommodate a low-barrier shelter serving our most vulnerable individuals, families and youth.
Shepherd’s House, which has extensive experience managing both full-time and winter shelters has stepped up to manage the facility. And many of our other partners have committed to providing on-site supportive services to guests experiencing homelessness
To assist in identifying a suitable location, the Homeless Leadership is asking community leaders to join us in collaborative conversation on Thursday, July 30th at 10:30 am. Due to the online nature of the event, we ask those interested in attending to pre-register at https://networkeventscenter.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZAsfuipqzMuGN0IlQJIepq1I1unJ3BkOZAM
Additional information about the need for a winter shelter and our plans for providing this critical service are available in pdf form at
